Mole! Mole! Mole!

Seriously, the mole is amazing. I came here as a kid when they still had velvet paintings on the walls. The decor is still really - cheerful - and the food is seriously good. Big plates of food, endless chips and salsa, what more do you want? Don't come here unless you're hungry.

This is a family friendly restaurant. As it turned out, we visited two in San Mateo. The Campus Rd, one is new, in a strip mall. Both provided good, friendly service and good, made to order, fresh Mexican food. We met with people we wanted to have a nice conversation with, and were able to get a quiet location with... More

The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. I loved the mole enchilada. They even surprised us with a birthday dessert, enough for all four of us to share. Service was good. We had a great time.

hands down, celia's, especially this location has the best mexican food. we all know that. which is why i held a family gathering there. luckily, it was close family and no one was really affected by the screw-ups, but i knew about them, and it was disconcerting, having to double-check everything along the way. i had requested the small room... Celia's in San Mateo is a fairly large Mexican Restaurant that was established in 1968. As some other reviews have said Parking is a bit of an issue as there are no where near enough Parking spots outside the Restaurant for it's size but I managed to park in a side road opposite. The décor is typical 'loud' Mexican style... More

Free basket of chips and salsa placed on your table before ordering. Very nice wait staff. Very busy place at lunch time. Casual environment. A lot of food for a good price. Food served very quickly, we didn't wait longer than 10 minutes after ordering. Our food was very flavorful and not too spicy. Freshly cooked, not salty and yet... More

Probably the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. Do not pass up an opportunity to eat here. Excellent food and plenty of it. Good service. Limited parking, but the food is well worth any inconvenience.

The first test of a Mexican restaurant are the chips and salsa. Celia's chips were warm and exceptionally crispy, not too salty. The salsa was the perfect consistency with just the right amount of heat....good omens of what the rest of our food would be like. The second test are the rice and the beans. Again, Celia's scored high marks.... More

I travel a lot and this was a great find. The salsa was great. Best tasting I have had except mine. Enchiladas were very good. Service was good and quick. Good atmosphere. I hope I can get back here.

Recommended by our hotel the Millwood Inn. The chips were hot and crispy. The salsa was freshly prepared. The tacos, steak, tostada salad were all very good and filling. Casual place to eat out.
