Nice local bistro in San Mateo

Got together here with some friends and really enjoyed our dinner. The heirloom tomatoes served with balsamic and goat cheese is a fantastic appetizer. We also had the calamari (so-so) and the ahi tuna (pretty good). We all had the rib eye that they had on special that night so I can't comment too... read more

Friends were in town for a few days and we decided to stay close to home the first night they were in. It had ben a while since we were at Central Park Bistro and we are glad we went. Service was fast and friendly, the food was delicious on all plates and the deserts were both beautiful and delicious.... More

On a main street in San Mateo, Central Park Bistro serves beautifully prepared dishes that- while mainly traditional- also have new interpretations. Lobster linguine with scallops and vegetables with a light cream sauce was delicious, as was the more modern version of lobster arugula salad with blood orange and avocado. Our lunch was served in a timely manner, despite a... More

We and a friend have tickets for the San Francisco ballet on a Saturday night. Instead of fighting the crowd near the War Memorial Opera House, we decided to have a light meal in San Mateo before we headout. The food is great here as usual and the service is good. We heavy have a bowl of mushroom soup, shared... More

This restaurant's menu has fusion, pizza, pasta, meat and fish. It seems like a hodge-podge, but it works. Everything we ordered was very tasty. The service was attentive and prompt.

This establishment has a "New York" style to it, albeit, the name Central Park. It's a classy Italian restaurant with an outstanding menu. Each member of our party of four had meals that were truly exquisite in presentation and taste. What a delight! This is a "must try" in San Mateo.

My husband comes here frequently for lunch - has the lamb sandwich and cole slaw - doesn't even look at the menu, he just loves it. We went with friends this week and two of had the pumpkin ravioli's. The sauce was good, could have been a bit more buttery (can't believe I said that) and it was nice touch... More

The quality of the food was not worth putting up with the unprofessional antics of Robert, one of their managers. Screamed at our party of 8. Added charges to our credit card after we left. We are initiating a dispute with our credit card company. Stay away if you are more than 2 in your party-stay away period unless you... More

I had dinner with some friends here. Funny that all four of us zeroed in on their seared scallops risotto and we were not disappointed. It was delicious. The host and attendants are very friendly and diligent. The place has plenty of outside parking and pleasing ambiance inside. The one thing I did not like is that they were pretty... More
