This restaurant really surprised us. On a guys night out, we were looking for a good steak house and decided to give Central Park Bistro a try. It is located on 4th ave in downtown San Mateo and has a small unassuming street presence - like a bistro in Paris. Once inside, I was very impressed! The menu makes deciding... More

We got gnocchi, mixed greens, mushroom pizza and salmon. Food was rich and delicious, and was served quickly. We shared these 4 dishes among 3 adults and had plenty to eat but not too much.

Best deal in town....Lobster salad for dinner $16. It was filling, tasty and lots of lobster meat! The service was ok, they forgot to refill my water which is pet peeve of mine.

We chose Central Park Bistro for a business dinner on Monday night and had a separate room, with large windows, right off the main dining room. It was nice to be able to see the rest of the restaurant and still feel connected. We were a large group (more than a dozen people) and the restaurant managed it well. When... More

Visiting San Mateo as a way point and asked the taxi driver to recommend a good restaurant. He took us to Central Park Bistro. The restaurant looks like a ordinary bistro, but their menu is anything but ordinary. A number of items looked good, but we tried a roasted beet salad, a house hamburger and a wood-fired lamb pizza. We... More

The food here is always delicious. Can be a little pricey, but often well worth it. Service is very nice and the atmosphere is very nice! Lovely spot for a special dinner.

We've been to this restaurant several times in the past few years, whenever we're in the area and its always good. Frankly, we've never had a bad meal. Best of the best is the lamb chops, the shirt steak, the scallops and any of the pasta dishes, And there is always someone in our group that will order dessert, and... More

In a town with a lot of peruvian, chinese, japanese there are only a few places doing "standard" californian fare (cal/ital/french). Central Park Bistro is one of them, and it's pretty good. You won't be blown away with the most awesome meal you've ever had, but you'll get very tasty, filling, interesting dishes. Full bar, often a little crowded, and... More

We were looking for a romantic restaurant that wasn't in San Francisco. Upon doing a search for "romantic restaurants in San Mateo County," Central Park Bistro came up more than once. We made a reservation for that evening and headed down. We were greeted warmly by the host and given a choice of tables as we were dining earlier in... More
