I've been going to Sushi Sam's weekly for over nine years. I should have cut a deal with the owner to be a shareholder, because I'm probably paying for his golf fees. But the sushi is that good. If the definition of your favorite restaurant is the one you go to most often, then this is hands-down my family's favorite... More

My boyfriend and I went with the Omakase Sashimi and ordered a few extra plates on the side. Most of the sashimi in the omakase was delicious, but the seared toro was definitely the highlight of the meal. SIMPLY AMAZING -- so buttery, it melts in your mouth. This is probably the best toro I have had the in bay... More

This sushi place ruined it for me. No other sushi place can compare. They simply have the best and I would go here in a heartbeat if I have the chance again.

This Japanese Restaurant is a local favorite, everything is fresh and artfully prepared. Fast and friendly, always busy but the wait is not long.

I have lived in San Mateo county since 1998 and for some reason hadn't tried Sushi Sam's until a year ago. I have a feeling it's because there was always a line and never bothered to wait. Since my family loves sushi, this means that we've missed out on 15 years of GREAT sushi. What makes it great is that... More

Sam's is a good choice for the price. It is not super fancy and the food is good, but no great. It is kind of like fast food sushi. They pack the place and turn tables quickly, but if money is the main object of your meal then this is a good choice. However, if you can get there for... More

I've been coming here since the 90s and most of the wait staff has been since then as well (or longer). The sushi is consistently great and service it good too. It gets super busy, so get there early or be prepared for a wait (make sure get your name on the list right away). Regardless, it's worth it!

Although this place is pretty small, it has great waiters and awesome fresh sushi. The waiters are also pretty comical and accommodating.
