Great Chef Gone-- Horrible Dinner

This used to be a nice place. The great chef who was so nice and talented in making our meals without the items we are allergic to left three months ago. The replacement and his staff are lacking beyond words in providing a proper dinner. Five of us arrived this Saturday night before 6:30 pm... read more

On the occasion of my husband's birthday, I made dinner reservations on a not-so-busy Halloween night. Service was lacking and the food lackluster-our waitress was pretty much indifferent. Our appetizer of fried pig ears and onion rings came quickly and was delicious, but we waited 20 minutes after we finished our appetizer to order our entree. My husband's snapper came... More

We had dinner in this restaurant with a party of 6. We reserved in advanced. I enjoyed delicious mussels in a spicy broth, and afterwards a good lasagna. Good price/value ratio.

Typical of a main street italian-american restaurant. Location is everything, food quality a distant priority. Ate a very average meal for 40$ without wine. A plain salad spread with almonds and some dressing, very average pasta (Bigoli, a form of thick spaghetti) that were overly salted, and a plain looking and tasting scoop of raspberry sorbet crowned the experience. It... More

My friends and I arrived and the place was empty but was told by the hostess if we could finish in 30 minutes we could be seated. We protested but decided to stay. We were given a table but it took the waiter 20 minutes before he took our order and another 25 minutes to bring our food. I felt... More

This was possibly the worst meal we have ever been served in any restaurant. Four of us went for dinner and no one like anything they had ordered. Every dish was overly salted and starting with a small bean salad appetizer with white beans and celery strips which did not look appetizing to a second course of gaspacho which tasted... More

I ate at Osteria Coppa in san Mateo during a recent business trip to the Bay Area and couldn't have been happier with the selection. The food was tremendous and unlike some Italian Food, it was light and fresh. The pasta is hand made and the chef takes great care in preparing dishes in season. I tried a few dishes... More

My boyfriend and I decided to try Osteria for two reasons, the wonderful reviews and the fact that we can always smell the fabulous food when we go to the movies in downtown San Mateo. We made a reservation, definitely a good idea as the restaurant is not exceptionally large, We were seated right away next to a front window... More

We go here often with work friends. Every time, we have had a great meal and most of all, have really relaxed out on the outdoor patio. The best thing on the menu is their thin crust pizzas, with seasonal toppings, which are on par with something you would get in Italy. Service is so-so but not where a meal... More
