Beautiful and Delicious

Hosted a birthday party for ten people. Our square table(perfect for a large group) was set in a lovely room surrounded with glass and lots of candles. The food was delicious and the service was very good, other than the one latecomer received his food ten minutes before the rest of us. Seemed... read more

My party of 9 ate at the Porterhouse Restaurant on Christmas Eve. The atmosphere, staff, and service were all great. However, my $42 rib eye steak was pretty much flavorless. My wife also had the rib eye and felt the same. We were very disappointed in the steak, especially since it was the cut recommended by our server. I've had... More

Really nice restaurant and bar. They serve great dry aged steaks prepared to perfection. If you have never tried a dry aged steak this would be a good place to start. The french onion soup was delicious. We were in with a group and they provided a super bruchetta (sp) , good chicken wings and a very nice cheese plate... More

The meat choices are excellent, if the have the dry aged beef--have it. The steaks, rib eye and porterhouse are excellent our group had them all. Large portions and good service. The wine list is good, with variety and strength in the reds. The atmosphere is like an old steak house, a little dark, dark wood and low lighting. The... More

Wife, sister, and I enjoyed a dinner at Porterhouse in June 2015. I engaged the online reservation option found here on TA and it worked flawlessly. I was a little concerned about finding the place after having read some of the reviews but it was in no way problematic. You can park in the adjacent public garage and have quick... More

While staying at a hotel near SFO, my wife, adult son, and I decided to forego the Marriott Hotel restaurant and instead try something a bit more upscale. This brought us to the Porterhouse in San Mateo. The entrance to the actual restaurant is at the end of a corridor. The ambiance of the dining area is sort of Capital... More

What a great restaurant. It is in a bit of an odd location hidden down a corridor. Also the toilets/restrooms are the other side of the corridor to the restaurant. But that aside it's really good. The choice of steaks was very impressive and our table of 6 had a mixture of the fayre available, 3 of us going for... More

Excellent steak I would have ordered the prime rib but it was to big even if we would have split the dish. Everything was good, even the cocktails not every place knows how to make a French Martini! Our waiter was very nice and helpful. Be prepared to spend some money but it's worth it especially for a special occasion.

Good restaurant, but certainly not the best steak I've ever ate. A bit tired and slow service for the prices.
