We visited the San Marcos location as this is the closest one to LegoLand. The first time I ever try the food at Phil's BBQ was the one in San Diego. We only had a take-out that day because we came during dinner time, and the lineup was unbelievable! This time my family arrived before the dinner rush and found... More

This place is awesome. Nice atmosphere and the servers are very accommodating. The food is fantastic from the meat to the BBQ sauce. We normally order the rib tickler, beef or pork ribs with fries, coleslaw and 2 big onion rings, $6.95, can't be beat! We add a side of their beans for a little over $1.

So good.......service was fast.... ribs were delicious. We "over ordered" and had a ton of food to take home. That's not a bad thing......Was a little surprised they didn't have a pulled pork dinner - only the sandwich. The sauce was good - I like a little sweeter sauce (being from the South). Yum.....wish I lived closer.

Phil's is a great BBQ place. Whether it is the Broham (Pork), El Toro (Tri-tip), Chicken or Ribs (Pork and Beef), it does not disappoint. While some might think that BBQ is all about the sauce, it is really all about the smoke. The meat here has a smoke flavor that permeates through the meat. The sauce compliments the meat... More

ok if you never have had real southern bbq, but trendy, big portions may make up for it. tri tip-for bbq? see what I mean, no brisket. cole slaw good, but not on top of pulled porch. good onion reings, avoid at all costs the potato salad-yuk. good service, but be warned, if you want better real bbq try Dickey's.... Was there during the San Marcos fire. A perfect place to relax for a little while after a rough couple of days. I am not a bbq connoisseur so I will not make any comparisons. Well thought out restaurant with great service and food. Loved the food "tweaks" not the same old same old - better. I'll be back.

The atmosphere is casual, the way you would expect a BBQ place to be. They have perfected the cuisine and the method of accommodating lots of customers in a very streamlined fashion. Its just good food and very tasty. Not sure what else to say about it. They have a good range of BBQ menu items. Just go there knowing... More

I have been here several times. It is usually very busy but they do a good job of getting people through the line, seated and served. It is somewhat pricey for bbq but it is popular and was on the man vs food show. My son loves the pulled pork. But I wouldn't say its anywhere near the best bbq... More

First, the service was great. Greeted by the manager. Order taker was patient. Food came out at fast. Now for the average part. The food, the sauce was to sweet. The beans were more Mexican then baked. Horseradish in the coleslaw gave the slaw a strange taste. The price was on the upper end of reasonable. For the cost of... More
