The food at Mama's was very satisfying. Not the the place to go if you have a discerning gourmand palate but rather just want good food at a reasonable price. Service is friendly but when busy may be a tad slow, accommodating attitude compensates for that. I commend Mama for her lamb and pizza but a standing ovation for her... More

San Luis Obispo is a town graced with at least three good Italian restaurants, and this one is a little gem, located in a small mini mall at the south end of town. Service here is excellent and the ambiance is pleasant as well. Even though the tables are close together, they are randomly placed which allows for more privacy... More

The reviews are spot on. Went on a Friday night. Town is crowded. Give yourself extra time to park and find the alley where Mama's Meatballs is hidden. Food was delicious. Garlic knots cost $2. Buy it with your appetizer. They will bring another order with your dinner. The Caprese salad was very fresh. We had spaghetti and meatballs; and... More

Went to Mama's twice within a week. Yes the location is a bit out of the way, but there's a better chance for parking a car. Food is good, and most entrees are priced around $14. Service is not the quickest, but the wait staff is friendly. It is often busy, and it is somewhat noisy, particularly when there is... More

I have eaten at Mama's a couple of times and have to recommend. The last time I was there it was to entertain clients from Brazil and the experience couldn't have been better. The staff is knowledgeable, attentive and pleasant to be around. The food rivals the best Italian restaurants in all of California. If you want a nice quiet... More

Located in a dark alley, it has the restrooms on the outside(a little scary), and is pretty small. And in November the temperature inside was too cold. I guess that is why it was almost empty. Regardless, the decoration was romantic, with a setting like an Italian square. Very appealing. The whole staff was italian I believe and what was... More

We had a delightful Italian dinner at this hidden gem run by an extended family from Puglia. We enjoyed the pasta of the day which was a spaghetti cooked with chard in a tomato sauce and one of the light delicious meatballs added and the winter squash gnocchi. They were both of the highest quality and the pastas where cooked... More

My husband and I have vacationed in California for over 20 years. Without a doubt, this meal was one of the best ever. I had the rack of lamb. Cooked to perfection. Accompanied by the very best scalloped potatoes ever, with grilled carrots and broccoli. I even ate the broccoli!!! My husband had the freshly made linguine with pesto and... More

We are a very picky family when it comes to Italian food, and Mama's Meatball TripAdvisor search. Mama's came up - it's a little hard to find, but we used the car GPS and the address from TripAdvisor and had no problem. The gnocchi was amazing and the Garlic Knots - oh, I couldn't get enough of them!!!! They are... More

Very good dishes. Excellent Barley, Lentil, and Lamb soup. Excellent Chicken dishes with real flavor. Very small; make sure you have reservations! The ambiance is that of an "outside restaurant in Italy".
