We scratch make everything on the premise from all natural ingredients. We specialize in unique bread varities from basil parmesan, wholesome 14-grain harvest to decadent chocolate zuchinni bread. For our lunch offerings, we use Boar's Head natural meats and local produce. We have a huge sample, so come on in and try a fresh slice of bread on the house.

Delicious fresh Sourdough Loaf

We packed a picnic lunch for Morrow Bay and needed a loaf of nice bread for our cheeses. I popped 'bread bakery' into my phone as we drove around the downtown area and was directed to House of Bread. Nice. Sourdough loaves were fresh out of the oven so we decided on that. While paying, we sampled... read more

House of Bread seriously knows how to bake! I never leave there empty handed. By that I mean, I can never resist treating myself to something either savory or sweet for immediate consumption. Yes, I stop for the bread, but there are so many temptations. Their chalIah is a weekly treat. House of Bread is our only bakery that bakes... More

Other reviews indicated to us that House of Bread was a restaurant but after carefully selecting it from Trip Advisor and going to some trouble to find it on a long trip from San Francisco to LA, we were surprised to find that it is a bakery with one small table for two. Great sandwich!

Although we only bought some bread, it was probably the best Challah we ever had. Perhaps because the bagels hadn't been baked on January 2nd, they were unremarkable. The generous tastes they gave us of some of their other breads were quite delicious and we will buy them on our next trip to the area.

Ingredients are important to me. And they are to 'House of Bread'!! We had some sandwiches that were amazingly yummy. And since we don't live in the area, we had to get some bread to go. :-).

Thank you to Trip Advisor reviewers for guiding us here. We stopped in for a lunch during a drive from Carmel to Los Angeles and were delighted with the food. If your restaurant is named "House of Bread," you'll want the bread you serve to be pretty darn good. My family of four all ordered sandwiches, and the bread was... More

We found House of Bread on Yelp. We stopped by and purchased sandwiches for lunch to take to the beach and elsewhere during our visit to SLO. The smell in there is heavenly as they are baking bread. The staff is very friendly but busy both baking bread and making sandwiches so service was a little slow but tolerable. Their... More

We came in for breakfast and sandwiches while on the road to Northern California. The sandwiches were made to order, good food.

Wish I lived in SLO so I could enjoy that amazing smell everyday. They have a very nice selection of breads and sandwiches of all kinds. The sour dough is very good and the chocolate zucchini is a must try. Great staff and very friendly service. Will be on my list of places to visit when I'm in the area.

There's nothing like the aroma of fresh bread, and that's what we first noticed after walking into the House of Bread. Then we noticed all the tasty baked goods...Loaves of savory bread, sweet dessert and breakfast breads, freshly made croutons, and more. We chose a loaf of cheesy garlic bread, and a jar of chocolate chip cookie mix. They had... More
