Splash Cafe ~ Artisan Bakery is located in San Luis Obispo, CA. In 2005, we opened this second location in San Luis Obispo and expanded to include an artisan bakery too! The bakery features artisan breads, pastries & desserts baked fresh daily. Each item from the bakery is carefully created and guaranteed to delight your senses. The café has a larger selection of salads and specialty sandwiches as well as signature ‘sun pizzas’! Great Clam chowder

Their food is really good and very affordable. If you go after 7pm, they sell their fresh baked pastries for $1...can't beat it!

...I'm glad I did. The clam chowder is excellent. It's a college hang-out so nothing fancy. Just really good food.

Good fried clams too! Didn't make it through the long line at the one in Pismo. Enjoyed the quaint restaurant and good food.

This downtown restaurant is usually quite crowded, and attracts both college students and local businesspeople. It is very informal--order at a counter and one of the cooks calls your name when it is ready. Food is OK, but not spectacular. Sandwiches are better than the fried foods, which tend to be rather greasy. The turkey club is very good, includes... More

Splash has excellent clam chowder, if you're in the market for such. Theirs is some of the best clam chowder I've ever had. Very rich and full of flavor, you can taste the clams and the celery. They also have many gluten free baked goods which is rare to see nowadays. I recommend this to my celiac partner.

I read the reviews about this restaurant and suggested it for lunch to my wife. She ordered a turkey sandwich on gluten free bread. She said it was so good that 2 days later she went back for another! I had a Ruben sandwich lunch special, which was also very good. We had a quick breakfast here and I had... More

After surfing the web for restaurants in San Luis Obispo that served breakfast with Gluten Free Items (especially bakery items), the Splash Cafe had four or five stars. Truth be known, there were less Gluten Free breakfast items than stars (three): A smallish gluten free muffin (tasting so-so); Fresh Fruit, Yogurt & Granola (not vegan); and a Side of Fruit.... While visiting family in California, we decided to grab lunch at the Splash Cafe in San Luis Obispo based on all of the rave reviews of their clam chowder. I am a fan of clam chowder so I had to try it myself. The chowder was excellent. I ordered it in a bread bowl and it was creamy, rich and... More

has become a tourist haven as well but still think it is one of best clam chowders. live in Monterey and the "restaurant experts" here also recommend and say it is great chower. Expect long, like 30 to 40+ min wait during lunch/dinner and tourist season.
