Given that the owner of Ciopinot has experience in owning/running a seafood )restaurant, we expected top-notch seafood when we dined here. However, our meals were mediocre at best. My dish was described as Grilled Mahi Mahi grilled with a coconut scallion crust, served with a red curry sauce ($23). What was served was a dry piece of fish with unevenly... more

I have been going to Ciopinot once a week for a few months now because I love the food. There are not very many restaurants in San Luis Obispo that I would give five stars, but this is definitely one of them. All of the seafood and produce are very fresh and a lot of it is local. The steak... more

I went for the $30 cioppino because it is their signature dish. It came boiling hot with 2 shrimps, 2 scallops, 2 or 3 small pieces of fish, a few squid tubes and 4 or so tenacles. The stock was very good but they really cheapened the dish with the type of shellfish. They should have thrown in several clams... more

My friend and I dined at this restaurant on Saturday 22 August 2009. As we walked through the door we were struck by the red brick walls, the dark tables with dark leather chairs, and the rows upon rows of bottles of pinot noir lined up above the bar. We were certainly not disappointed by the wine list nor the... more

My wife and I had dinner at Ciopinot on a Saturday night in August. We had 8:00 p.m. reservations and arrived a few minutes late. We were instantly greeted and shown a selection of available tables. (This is worth noting -- on a busy Saturday night, with the place nearly full, we were offered to choose our spot, either in... more

We had dinner there and had a great time, we ordered a 'no hassle cipinot' - and shared the portion. It was delicious, and definitely worth splitting, as the portion was quite large. We tried their signature drink, the Ciopinot Mojito and it was pretty good too. The place is pricey, but its great seafood! more

We spent a night in San Luis Obispo on our week-long tour de California and were delighted to find this trendy restaurant located at the edge of the central business district. The seafood was very fresh and nicely prepared. If we lived nearby, we'd definitely return. After stuffing ourselves, we also enjoyed a short walk past the Mission on the... more

We arrived at about 9 pm, and were seated almost immediately. The owner came to chat, and let us know that it would have been much longer wait earlier. We weren't that hungry, and so had two appetizers each and dessert, rather than an entree. My friend's clam chowder was a stand out, as were my fish tacos - each... more

I love the atmosphere, the no corkage fees and the great food. The prices are very reasonable especially for how fresh the seafood was. And where else can you go and get Certified Angus steaks in the twentys. After eating here I believe they really hit a homerun. more

We came up to visit Central Coast Wineries and found two gems. The restored schoolhouse tasting room in Avila Valley with spectacular Salisbury Pinot Noir and a referral to Ciopinot in downtown San Luis Obispo. From the moment we walked in, the owner greeted us and his suggestions were spot on. Ambiance, great food, stellar service. Fresh seafood and deep... more
