SLO favorite

Big Sky has been one of my favorite SLO spots for over 10 years. The menu is unique, great local wines, many vegetatian options, amazing breakfasts and friendly service. The only reason I do not give it 5 stars is it can get loud at peak dining times. Go there and try the daily specials and a local... read more

My daughter and I had asked a few people for an upscale restaurant in the area and everyone of them recommended Big Sky Cafe. We weren't disappointed. Nice atmosphere and really good food. Glad we found it. Sorry we weren't in the area to go again.

Stopped off for a quick breakfast before heading in to the State Parks at Big Sur. Big Sky is situated across the road from a parking lot (very convenient!) and has the authentic feel of a neighbourhood diner. The reception was warm, the coffee fresh (although a little weak by European standards) and the food good. The Oatmeal - at... More

I came in for lunch about 2:00 after going wine tasting. That worked out, since I found a place in the small parking lot just across the street. The spaces are ultra narrow, so you’re pretty much asking for a door ding. Parking in downtown SLO is a complete nightmare. Even the parking lots have meters, @ $1.50/hour—quite high for... More

Had dinner here with my wife and friends. The food was very good, and the service was just right. I had a special of espresso roasted pork loin, which was better than expected. We finished with the beignets and coffee. Hint - my wife & I could have easily split the beignets. Overall this was a very pleasant meal. I... More

We live in Downtown SLO and this place is by far our favorite for breakfast. Great menu with diverse options and the food is always fresh. Try the swiss cheese pancakes. If you go for lunch have the fish tacos made with the fresh fish of the day.

Super restaurant, friendly staff and great atmosphere. Had the Ahi Tuna Salad and it was so good I had it again the next day! The hummus is tasty too. Everyone in the place looked like they were having a good time. Also a nice bar you can order mixed drinks and eat at as well. High ceilings and brick walls... More

We chose this cafe from Trip Advisir reviews and are glad we did. Parking along the street using a meter was about $1.25 for an hour. I tried their specials of the day Vegetarian Rueben sandwich and lentil soup. The Rueben was on rye with sauerkraut, BEETS, and cheese!! Yummy! Soup was also vegetarian and served at a perfect temperature.... More

After a disappointing campus tour, we spent a few hours enjoying the walkable downtown of San Luis Obispo. I remembered a restaurant I had eaten at and enjoyed a few years earlier, so I was glad when we came upon The Big Sky Cafe again in the late afternoon. My husband truly enjoyed the fish tacos and ale, while my... More

My wife and I ate here last Saturday evening and again Sunday morning. As others have said, the menu is quite varied. The key for us was that they have many options for my wife who eats gluten-free. The veggies were very fresh and the use of spices was just prefect. We had the veggie rolls and stir fry for... More
