Pink and frilly to the point of silly. But, as they say if you are going to go gawdy go all the way. Order the steak, the fish was a wretched mistake on my part. The carved wood was worth the visit alone. The pink champaign cake was a perfectly appropriate finalle, and worth the calories. But really...order the beef.... More

Since moving to SLO, my husband and I head down to the steak house for delicious food and good people watching. It gets a bad rap for being expensive and for the old school decor. I always feel like going here takes you to a different era, and the dining experience reminds me of country club weddings from the 80's--Gold... More

This stunningly beautiful restaurant will hit you like a kid in a candy store! Every inch is lovingly decorated in old time elegance plus a canvas of eye popping pink from the carved doorway to the column of gigantic blooms to the dance floor. If you watched Lawrence Welk , this is the time era you are transported to. Usually... More

A couple of weeks ago, I spent the night at the Madonna Inn while traveling up the coast (see separate review of hotel stay). I complemented my stay with dinner at the Gold Rush Steak House, and am happy with the decision. Even if you're not staying at the hotel, a stop at the Gold Rush for dinner to experience... More

Hilarious interior. Good service but not brilliant - I think they were pretty buy although that shouldn't be an excuse. Food was very good, well cooked and tasty steaks, really fresh crispy salad, even came with a chilled salad fork! A fun night.

Absolutely love this place, completely over the top decor but in a fabulous way, from the pink overdose in the restaurant, to the waterfall flushing in the men's toilets! But it's not just the look that will catch your attention. I have eaten here three times, and the steaks have always been delicious. They cook them over an oak smoked... More

Have dined out at this steakhouse before and no doubt will again in the future. Big succulent cuts of beef in NY style, ribeye you name it. Looks a bit pricey at first glance but by the time you've finished the steak and everything that comes with them, there aren't many who'd want more. Barbecue grilled, pan fried, it makes... More

We had two entrees, a well-prepared steak and an overcooked, barely edible halibut. Prices too high for what we got. Waitress was pleasant and efficient.

We both had Ruebens and they were delicious. The service was excellent. We went there for breakfast also, because there was a large crowd staying at the hotel we had to wait a bit, but breakfast was great, worth the wait

OK, I have to admit that it feels like I'm sitting in a French bordello... BUT the food was fantastic! Both the French Filet Mignon (aged beef wrapped in bacon with mushroom caps in a burgundy sauce -- are you drooling?) and Prime Rib were done perfectly. We happen to like LOTS of topping on our baked potato so were... More
