We stopped here briefly to charge our car. Trying to save time we figured we would also grab a bite. We tried 3 different kinds of soft tacos and all were great. As a bonus while we were there they were just taking some fresh pastries and breads out of the ovens, so we had great munchies for the rest... More

It's been over ten years ago since we stumbled up El Campeon. We were craving Mexican food and this place stopped us in our tracks. Our first visit here was a bit intimidating as we didn't know how or what to order so we just pointed. Today, we can order with ease and without the confusion. If the sight of... More

My wife and I stumbled upon this place many years ago, and I remember being the only gringos in the place. Not much has changed. They've grown a lot, making the restaurant bigger and adding a grocery store. There were also more gringos there than I remember. The fast food style menus on the wall were very helpful to me.... Food looks unhealthy catered to a Hispanic customers. Feel un welcomed. Rice was dry and beef tacos was greasy. Service was poor. Very disappointed.

Let's see: has its own carneceria, its own bakery, its own tortillaria, and its own grocery store so everything is fresh. It also (weirdly) has its own electronics and music store but that is another story. I am usually the only gringo in the place. It is dive-y in that the seating is very rudimentary but to tell the truth... More

We took a day trip into San Juan by way of the Metrolink Train. When you exit the train you have a choice of the historic part of Capistrano or the town/mission area to search out lunch. Head toward the mission and turn right on Camino Capistrano. Just past the El Adobe Restaurant you will see the El Adobe Plaza.... More

The bakery section has fresh bolillos rolls all day and they are the best I've had. The pan dulce - cookies, sweet rolls, etc. are always good. The food is always great. The picnic benches outside are always full. The place is always busy, service always friendly even if you don't speak Spanish. They cater special events too.

red chili combination plate: big chunks of pork in a slow-cooked homey chili sauce. Comes with rice, beans, tortillas, salsa. Locals fill the place.

The place is a little gold mine so whatever my opinion they are not going to suffer. Their food is acceptable, some dishes much better than others, but overall is much better than a Taco Bell or Del Taco, and that is the basic criteria it must have. A lot of mexican people frequent the place and that is why... More

Our children attend Tae Kwon Do next to this carniceria, so we eat here often. My husband gets the carne asada burrito and being the veggie I am, I like the quesadilla and the bean/cheese burrito. Ordering in Spanish will be sure to get the right order, but if not, most of the employees speak enough English to take your... More
