Great Italian Food At Equally Great Prices

I have been coming here for years. Aldo is a spectacular chef that could probably work at any number of Michelin star restaurants if he ever decided to close this place. The service can be slow at times as often times it is just Aldo and a busboy running the entire restaurant. If you are looking... read more

We were visiting the Mission & TA directed us to this little place in a strip mall just blocks away. We had eggplant pinninis and they were very good. The indoor dining room was very warm (too warm for comfort) & they weren't allowed to sell wine at the sidewalk tables, so that was a bummer but he food was... More

People have told me about Aldo's (favorably) and so decided to finally give it a try. The lunch and dinner menu has most everything you'd expect Italian; surprising for such a small neighborhood restaurant. The smoked salmon ravioli was delicious, as were the gnocchi with meat sauce, and salmon fillet/jumbo shrimp with angel hair pasta. Everything is fresh and homemade.... More

We went to the Dutch Bakery for sandwiches almost every week, for maybe 15 years. When they suddenly closed in early October we waited patiently but it appears they are not coming back and a French Bakery will open in that location... someday. I have been looking for a place to get sandwiches and I believe Aldo's is going to... More

We've been eating here for 20 years and we always love the experience. The frittata is the best I've had and their mozzarella and tomato pannini crispy and flavorful. The lentil soup is always good and the service is warm and welcoming. Excellent food and reasonable prices. Never sure why people pick the Subway next door when they can eat... More

We go to Aldo's frequently. It has the best saladas. Their vegetables are always fresh, the pasta dishes are really good, and sandwiches really tasty.......The bread is delicious!!!!!. Excellent atmosphere, service and the meals are priced very reasonable. Aldo himself is always there to make sure you have the best service. One of my favorite restaurants. Try the Mediterrean salad!

I wandered into this charming sidewalk cafe last week with only $10 in my pocket. I had recently lost my wallet and didn't have any credit or debit cards with me. The owner, Aldo, was completely charming and sweet and gave me the lunch special, which was just under $10. This included a large Caesar salad, lots of warm, fresh... More

Take the drive and eat at this local gem. Great food, friendly service and great prices. From the sandwiches, lasagna and pasta dishes; so many choices! Seating is limited but well worth the wait!

Visited here on a Friday night, it was dirty, I saw the waiter clean the table and push the crumbs onto the chairs and just leave them there. It was a cold night and the owner/cook kept opening the front door to cool off, even after we asked them to close the door. We asked for our puttanesca pasta mild... More

As San Jaun Capistrano locals this is my husband and I's favorite restaurant. Aldo is charming and we look forward to talking to him. He decorates with his own homegrown roses when they are blooming. That's the kind of personal touch he gives to the whole Aldo's Sidewalk Caffe experience. He has a great accent and is sooooo polite. The... More
