Although right next to the train station and in the middle of a city, Ramos House feels like it is worlds away. It is a wonderful spot and the food is incredible. I've never been disappointed with anything I've eaten there.

We decided to try taking the Amtrak train down to San Juan Capistrano for brunch and to visit some of the local attractions. We decided on the Ramos House Café. The food was very good, yet a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Excellent breakfast dishes but prices are way out of line!! $37 a plate for a brunch to sit outside under a heater that becomes too hot is just outrageous. Look, but keep walking over to the Tea House.

Ramos House is a true gem. The food is incredible and the atmosphere is warm and unique. The food is always good and the drinks and incredible. Lovely to see the home grown herbs used in the recipes. Even the restroom is fun--kind of an outhouse with in house plumbing. Love the blankets they have at the tables and the... More

The food was very unique and fresh and really delicious. The atmosphere was really unique as well. It was rustic but upscale at the same time. Being right on the train tracks also added to the atmosphere.

My parents have lived in the area for years and have never been to the Ramos House Cafe. We have been to many old San Juan restaurants .... Ricardo's, Swallows Inn, Sarducci's, Mollies Cafe etc. This was our first and most enjoyable visit to the historic Ramos House. The garden patio atmosphere was quiet and very relaxing, except when the... More

We were visiting from Florida so sitting outside is a favorite of ours. We met the owner who lives on the property and works here. The wines are kept in the cellar the herbs are grown in the garden, and ice cream is turned out back. The menu changes daily and is made from scratch. The best part for me... More

Lived in San Juan for 18 months and came here many times. Just loved it, great atmosphere and fabulous food. Amazing location and love the whole herb garden against the tracks, tin table and blankets thing. The food is totally original and brilliantly served. I even love the rules on customer behaviour......

Great atmosphere. Great people watching. Tasty Bloody Mary's and good food. Friendly service. Nice breeze comes through the dining area. Right across the tracks from the depot so you can take the train to San Juan, shop, eat at Ramos House and go home happy.
