A special place in San Juan Capistrano

Good food and atmosphere. Historical place. Part of the structure dates back to 1776. That is very old for the West! Great place for celebration , in the large banquet room with the moving celling ,you can bring the sky in at night while you dance under the stars.

Just missed happy hour, we decided to stay for dinner. Arrived on a Thursday night at 6:15 (party of 5) and were promptly seated. Service friendly a bit rushed. Chips and salsa were brought immediately. Chips were thin & fresh (I assume not made on premises). The salsa, although good, could have a bit more gusto. Our server introduced himself... More

Well, what do you really expect? San Juan Capistrano is as tourista as you can get without an amusement park, waterfall or geyser. The buildings are historic and the atmosphere hangs over the lobby and interior like plush silk tapestries. Time woven in and out of gold threaded dreams. The tables and chairs lay claim to historic elbowing, ruffling and... More

Restaurant was a favorite of President Nixons...Lots of history associated with the building itself. Food is consistently good and it does take some time to get seated if you don't have a reservation. Great outdoor area for private parties and weddings.

I had read about this restaurant in The OC Register long ago and we were finally in that area and so glad we stopped for dinner!!!! You may or may not have thought President Nixon was a good president, but this restaurant was a favorite of his. Now we know why!!! This hacienda style restaurant is very inviting. Many rooms,... We stopped here for dinner prior to attending a concert at the Coach House. It was about 6:00 p.m. and the wait was approximately 30 to 45 minutes to be seated in the restaurant. Instead, we found a nice table in the bar. We were served immediately by a very friendly man (sorry, I didn't get his name). He made... More

We were in town for the night and decided to drop in due to other positive reviews on TripAdvisor. We were very pleased. Our server, Carlos, was friendly and attentive. Chips were hot and the salsa was fresh, spicy and tasty. We ordered the Lobster Fajitas and an El Cabo salad and shared. The fajitas were delivered piping hot and... More

We hosted a fund raiser luncheon for 200 ladies that went really well. The food was delicious chicken Dos Corazones, vegetable tamale, rice, vegetables, and dessert was delicious.
