Historical Restaurant

If you want some history along with your meal, this is the place. One of the oldest building in an historical town and on the main street. Look for the hidden jail. The food, that is mostly Mexican, is very good. Excellent salsa and chips. They also have fish and steak, but found the drinks weak.

Drove down from Torrance to meet our Daughter and her family in Capistrano for Mother's Day lunch. We have a timeshare in Dana Point, so we are familiar with the area and met at the El Adobe. This is very pretty hacienda restaurant with good Sorona style Mexican food and very good service. It is right in the heart of... More

We really loved eating a great mexican lunch at this historic adobe building. We learned that it is actually an old adobe house joined to an adobe jail. You can eat in what is now a wine cellar that was the old jail. It has a lovely small chapel and garden for weddings and parties.

My Family had buffet style dinner at the reception area for a family wedding. When cooking for many its hard to get it right, but El Adobe knock it out of the park. The food was warm, even the tortillas. The absolute best was the green enchiladas! wow I want to return just to have some more of those. Just... More

I originally went there as the owner allowed us to use his place for a photo shoot. The band was based around a spanish themed guitar and the decor and various rooms was perfect for the promo. The inside court is a charming oasis with a nice natural light. We really felt welcomed there. Had a chance to come back... More

We came here as a group after work. We wanted to see the Mission but got here too late so decided to grab some dinner. The building itself is an old adobe building. The historic sign on the front stated it was from 1840 but apparently there are other parts that are much older. The building itself had been used... More

We have gone to this restaurant for years. Love the ambience especially on weekend when they have live guitarist! The food is much better on weekends. I know this cause have eaten here on Mondays and Tuesdays and food not as fresh/good. Also if you order a special Cadillac margarita with petron silver make sure the older guy with the... More

There were 5 of us and we all enjoyed our meal and the good Mexican beer. The service was great and the dinners were hot and very good. This is a nicely decorated place with a nice sophisticated Mexican ambience.

This is the tried and true Mexican Food Choice for decades. President Nixon ate here. The food choices are top notch, chips and salsa very good, and you can't beat the ambiance of the place. They do wedding receptions here, retirement parties, etc so it's a real fun place to just see and eat.

After visiting the Mission, we asked the locals for recommendations for Mexican Cuisine. This was the restaurant they suggested. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious and generous portions. I was only disappointed in the Margarita I ordered. It was the special, but $11 for a very small glass I thought was high.
