Breads & Baked Goods are Excellent

They even have a few gluten free items. Everything is made fresh daily and well worth the stop. The employees are friendly. The pastries are out of this world good.

We purchased a chocolate loaf and a cinnamon loaf. The chocolate loaf was probably the best of its kind that we have eaten.....BUT, the cinnamon loaf was dry and tasteless....it seemed to be stale, but in any case it was poor...we had to throw it our after tasting it. The staff is lovely and other choices are probably excellent, as... More

This place looks humble both inside and out, but don't be fooled! They have the most amazing fresh bread and baked goods. All of the locals know about this place and can wipe out the supply if you are late. The dark rye is to die for! Just another little gem in a delightful town well worth exploring.

We visit SJB. Every summer to escape the heat. This is a local hangout as well as a favorite of the tourists. The bread is amazing and the pastries are fantastic. Macaroons, pies, danishes, brownies, and my kids love the cookies. You have to get here early, because they sell out quick, especially on the weekends. Service is always friendly.

I came for the Mission (which was great), but the Bakery was amazing too. This quiet little old fashioned bakers is full of wonderful smells and baked goods. I left with loaves of bread, like chocolate bread and an orange cinnamon bread. My family loved the bread, especially the kids. While visiting this sleepy little town full of nice antique... More

I am a very good home baker and was very pleased to discover this jewel of a bakery. The baked goods are fresh and incredibly good. People who know baked goods understand the gem that is in San Juan Bautista. No this not some big city bakery, it real food for real people made by people with a great passion... More

One of the only places you can get the traditional, California style panatone. I love the cinnamon bread.

Besides the service this place should close their doors. Sorry to say but I'm being honest. The bakery used to be a place where tourist would drive 100 miles for the treats. It's shameful to see the things they are trying to sell. My 3 yr old could bake better treats. I don't wish any business failure but I hope... More

Almost as old as the Spanish mission nearby, this noble kitchen produces fine breads, specialty breads, breakfast pastries, and desserts worthy of its heritage. There are two tables and a showcase plus the walls are lined with treats. While not a full restaurant, this is fine for coffee and sweet rolls or cookies and a beverage. And almost every patron... This is a rustic little place and reminds me of a cartoon I once watched with lots of pastries and cakes in the display cases. I love walking down 3rd street and then getting a pastry at this shop. They are very nice and the food is good.
