I came for the Mission (which was great), but the Bakery was amazing too. This quiet little old fashioned bakers is full of wonderful smells and baked goods. I left with loaves of bread, like chocolate bread and an orange cinnamon bread. My family loved the bread, especially the kids. While visiting this sleepy little town full of nice antique... More

I am a very good home baker and was very pleased to discover this jewel of a bakery. The baked goods are fresh and incredibly good. People who know baked goods understand the gem that is in San Juan Bautista. No this not some big city bakery, it real food for real people made by people with a great passion... More

One of the only places you can get the traditional, California style panatone. I love the cinnamon bread.

Besides the service this place should close their doors. Sorry to say but I'm being honest. The bakery used to be a place where tourist would drive 100 miles for the treats. It's shameful to see the things they are trying to sell. My 3 yr old could bake better treats. I don't wish any business failure but I hope... More

Almost as old as the Spanish mission nearby, this noble kitchen produces fine breads, specialty breads, breakfast pastries, and desserts worthy of its heritage. There are two tables and a showcase plus the walls are lined with treats. While not a full restaurant, this is fine for coffee and sweet rolls or cookies and a beverage. And almost every patron... This is a rustic little place and reminds me of a cartoon I once watched with lots of pastries and cakes in the display cases. I love walking down 3rd street and then getting a pastry at this shop. They are very nice and the food is good.

I had heard so many friends say I need to visit this place when in San Juan Bautista. I am so glad we came! The minute you open the door you can smell the fresh bread being made. We brought home empanadas, cookies and cheesy jalapeno bread but there were so many more choices. They do have tables where you... More

Extremely friendly staff, wide selection of breads and pastries, and great location is what you get. The prices are right and there is great pride taken in the pastries; you can tell. The donuts are a treat! You can sit down and enjoy your items at one of the few tables. Try the extra big and fluffy donut holes.

the San Juan Bakery is unique with its old world brick oven. For years it has made the famous Casa Rosa Rolls, and various melt in your mouth breads and pastries. When the ownership changed in the last decade, however, the quality went downhill and the shop is not inviting. There is so much un-used space, doesn't have the cozy... More
