Wonderful Malaysian food. Try the pineapple fried rice and the taro nest dishes. They were just two of the great dishes we ordered. They handled our large group very nicely. We didn't have to wait because we got there right when they opened. Otherwise plan on waiting. I don't know that I'd be happy waiting for this place. It's good,... More

We have been here a few times in the past year, and the food has been consistently above average -- in portion sizes, taste, and quality of ingredients. I am short of calling it outstanding because there isn't a signature item made here that is the best. All of the vegetarian dishes we have had here are good. The service,... More

I have been this Layang Layang once to use a groupon. We ordered prata as an appetizer, which was crispy and fluffy. The curry was average and so was the popiah (it was a version that I have never tried before in Malaysia). For our main dishes we had char kuey teow and hokkien mee. I enjoyed the char kuey... More

We visit San Jose several times a year and we always visit Layang Layang at least once. The street food is exactly how I remembered it growing up in Penang. The laksa was fantastic. HUGE bowl. The chicken satay is a must-have. Loved the chendol for dessert. The nyonya kuih was a little disappointing. We will skip it the next... More

Some stuff you'll like, some you won't, but that's because of cultural differences. Wonderful staff, ice cold beer, and really interesting presentations. The local Asian community really loves it, we were just unfamiliar with some of their offerings. I do promise you that a visit will make you feel good.

Having lived in Southeast Asia for two years, sometimes I have a craving for authentic food and not fusion or some Americanized version. I was surprised that this placed turned out so great. We had at least 6 different dishes, of which all were delicious - some I've never tried before. I don't like hot (spicy) food so was glad... More

Looking for a good Malaysian/Singaporean meal? This is a great place, good for family, Unpretentious and friendly staff. One of our family's favorite place when we want some good food. Must order Roti Canai, and princess tofu if it is your first time there, Sarang Seafood if you like Taro.

I loved the food so much that my daughter and I ate there twice last week. We go there when we are visiting in San Jose as we lived in Singapore and miss the foods from that area. The roti with curry is a must. We loved the mouse tail noodles, the curries, the basil chicken, fish head curry, clay... More

Awesome spot, authentic Malay cuisine at a reasonable price. Try the sizzling lamb, pineapple fried rice and wash down with a Thai tea. Excellent service.
