I often think that places like this might not be great because of the location but was really delighted by my meal. I would have given it a five but only four because the service was a bit disconnected. Several people showing up at the table asking the same questions over and over. It lacked coordination. I did have the... More

Came here on business the first day on the new job. The Head Honcho VP had wanted to go to Straits Restaurant, which Cherry Wonderdog followers will recall wasn’t one of my favorite outings. Fortunately for us, corporate pressures made him to forget to reserve ahead of time, thereby opening the door for Plan B. I discretely proposed Village California... More

Last night we had an "after business" dinner. So many restaurants to choose from in Santana Row. Although it was a Tuesday night, the area had a good amount of bustle -- maybe because the weather was warm and no one wanted to cook. Many restaurants to choose from chinese fusion, mexican, indian, etc. But we needed to eat some... More

I like this place. I feel the food is reasonably priced and in the 3 meals I've had there, it's all been good or great. Last night the service was a little slow which kept if from getting 5 stars. The twice cooked pork is awesome. Flourless chocolate cake a little dry.

Well done Village California - you have exceeded my expectations (and that does not happen often!) Santana Row, San Jose, California - well, here you would expect to pay a premium for average food and service - this is not the case with The Village California. They are worth every penny indeed and have great food, great service, indoor and... More

My wife and I were in San Jose for the weekend and just wandering in the Santana Row area looking for a place to have dinner. We had no recommendation for this restaurant but it looked interesting and the menu was varied. Great choice! We sat outside - not on the street but at the quieter area to the side.... More

Had dinner after a movie on a Friday night which was enjoyable. Went at 6:00 and it was not crowded until later. We sat inside, but could have sat outside as there were plenty of heaters as folks were sitting in short sleeves. The bar was busy. My husband had the lamb shank and I had the salmon which were... I have dined here on two occasions and both times the food has been amazing. The brie in filo with honey is a must for a starter - would recommend sharing - and the forbidden Thai curry is packed full of flavour, and of course there's a fantastic selection of wine available. A must go to each time we're in... More

I dropped in for dinner one night and it was busy, there was a bar area with space so I sat there. Very nice surrondings, very friendly staff, good knowledge of the local wines and the willingness to offer up some small tasters to back up their claim. I was not starved but I saw epanada's as a starter ...... More

Had the Village Break, 2 eggs, choice of meat, potatoes and muffin or toast. Ordered coffee asked if we wanted cream and sugar only brought cream. Coffee not very hot. Coffee refills were slowing coming.Food came quickly. No salt or pepper on the table had to ask for it. Roast potatoes and applewood bacon were excellent! I've had as good... More
