Nice atmosphere and good food

Very convenient to the Hotel De Anza, La Pastaia had great service and good food. The minestrone was very good and the meatballs were hearty. The atmosphere was quiet elegance. I had no problem getting a table.

Our party found the mushroom risotto, Spinach eggplant salad, Bolognese ravioli, and one share plate all tasty and well-prepared, but short on the main-event ingredients. We'd read another review warning against the soggy pizza but, hoping that was a one-off, ordered the Pancetta pizza anyway. Memo to La Pastaia: with 6 different pizzas featured on a short memo, get a... More

Lovely location in downtown San Jose and historic De Anza hotel. The Italian food is very well done and the service if fantastic. It's not busy on the weekends so great place for special occasion or date night. All Italian dishes are good so go for what you like. Great to eat before the show, game, or a night out... More

The food is similar to all high end Italian restaurants, what differentiates here is the atmosphere being in a beautiful Art Deco building. A window table is good for people watching.

La Pastaia was convenient to the place we were staying, so we decided to try it rather than walk around in the heat. I am so glad we did! Our waiter was phenomenal and friendly. We had the poutine to start. I was expecting what I saw on the foodie channel with gravy and cheese, but this blew it out... More

We had breakfast and dinner here and were not terribly impressed with either. The spaghetti and meatballs sauce was pretty bland and tomatoey, although the meatball was good. The Caesar salad was flavorless. Breakfast was limited and a bit boring. My omelette was not very fluffy. So ok, but next time we are in town we will find some where... More

Ambiance: La Pastaia is a very good looking place, that has been maintained well. High ceilings, good comfortable furniture, and interesting highlights. Enough distance between tables to not be sharing with other couples. Staff: Good. On occasion it has felt that they run a little lean on staff and there can be delays. Drink: Wine list is good, not great.... More

Restaurants in hotels in Europe and many other places are often very good; unfortunately restaurant hotels in the U.S. are generally mediocre or worse. Amazingly Cafe La Pastaia in the De Anza Hotel, San Jose, was really good. We had a small conference at the De Anza in January 2015, and booked the restaurant for lunch for 35 for two... More

To celebrate our daughter's college graduation our family of four dined at La Pastaia last Friday night, April 24, 2015. It was to be a very special dinner for all of us. Our server, Shafiq, was attentive, bringing an ice bucket for our champagne to start our meal. All day I had looked forward to enjoying the Cacio e Pepe... More

I decided to host a brunch here the day after my daughter's wedding. The brunch was very good. Everything was served hot, and was refilled often. The wait staff was very attentive to our needs. I really can't praise the restaurant enough for the great food and service. We had about 40 people coming in at different times and the... More
