This is our go-to place for after-work happy hour and special anniversary and birthday dinners. This place has it all. The food is excellent and the great service and atmosphere make the price quite reasonable.

Ambiance The Grill is split into two distinct sections, the grill area and the dining area. Both are very comfortable. The grill area is what you'd expect, an upscale bar/food area, fun for a Saturday afternoon lunch. The dining area is well separated from the grill, so it's quiet, soft to slightly brightly lit. Well appointed, tables and booths far... More

What a terrific place to celebrate a birthday. After making the reservation by phone with Marco, when he greeted us and wished my dining companion Happy Birthday. She was thrilled he knew it was her birthday! Marco seated us at a nice booth and promised we would enjoy the birthday meal and he and the staff would make sure we... More

We have always looked forward to our stop at the Grill each year when in San Jose. It has always been wonderful. Except for last weekend. We always sit outside and have several small plates and share. I'm guessing new owners? Portions were so small, food just not good at all and the usual busy place was empty. And it... More

I was there for the second time this year and continue to like it. The wine list is great, mostly Californian, with a wide array of prices. The steak is very good and here is one of the few places in town they know how to cook it Pittsburgh style... our waiter was there whenever we needed him and made... More

Went to Grill on the Alley for a business dinner. The food was excellent. If you like shrimp cocktail, you will be impressed by the size of these jumbo shrimp. A couple of us ordered a couple of starters instead of a main course. The portions were more than sufficient. Service was unpolished. Although they weren't kids, there was a... More

Conveniently located in The Fairmont Hotel. Comfortable dining room with expected high-end steakhouse amenities. Service was professional and efficient. Steaks were cooked as ordered, tender and flavorful. Side dishes were large enough to share and very well prepared. A companion ordered oysters as an appetizer, they were a bit disappointing. Prices were typical of a high-end steakhouse.

I ate at the bar and orders off the happy hour menu which was a smaller sized portion of a New York. Steak was served medium well when I ordered medium rare. I had to send it back. The second steak came out rare but was ok. They do make a very good loaded macaroni and cheese. Bartenders also made... More

I went there for dinner the food was good and the place is nice. But I travel alone so all I got was a bar seat so not so comfortable for me, the place is always crowded.
