lovely spot, nice meal

We very much enjoyed Sunday brunch at this creekside restaurant (though I'd note that the brunch was more like a dinner.) The setting and service were wonderful. The food ranged from good (elk) to great (linguini with seafood), and we enjoyed the signature grand marnier souffle.

La Foret is another of my all-time favorites. Super flavorful, well-prepared, high quality and delicious food. The best wild game anywhere. Pleasant accommodating service. Warm, romantic ambiance. Good value given the quality. Could be more creative...

Le Foret is one of those rare restaurants where the quality of service out paces the quality of the food. We recently visited Le Foret on a busy Sunday afternoon. The service was crisp yet personable with very good pacing. For entrees we ordered the game special (Elk), the Veal, the Salmon, and the Tortellini. To everyone's surprise the Elk... More

you have to drive some miles from San Jose downtown. But the visit pays for it. John is running this Restaurant for 37yrs now - no upscale restaurant stayed as long as he did in this area. We hosted a party of 70 - and usually you face problems regarding the flexibility in seating and Food to be served. Not... More

My wife and I have been enjoying La Foret for over 15 years. Each time is special - there is never a disappointment. The food is exquisite - try the game special, the tasting menu, the ahi - or really just anything. A friend of mine who grew up in Hawaii calls the ahi at La Foret some of the... More

we were invited by some friends celebrating a birthday. It's quite a drive to get there as the restaurant is on the outskirts of town and not so easy to find in the dark. However, once there we were seated immediately. Service was attentive and prompt. My friends had the elk which was the wild game special for the evening... More

It's pricey and maybe getting a bit old. HOWEVER, EYERYTHING else about it was fantastic. The ambiance was quiet and romantic with a good location creek side. The service was solid and the food was excellent. We brought our own wine, but I noticed that they had a good selection of high-end California and French wines. Of the 6 occupied... More

A quite nice French bistro in a converted house alongside a creek. So yes, there is a quaint creek view. Don't expect a river, it could as easily be storm drain runoff. But nice nonetheless view-wise. Service was excellent, I thought the staff was friendly and attentive. Good wine menu California-wise, not much old world. And the beer selection was... More

Very nice setting. Restaurant had a strange farm odor - not sure why. Food was very good, but prices are quite high, particularly for alcoholic beverages. Grand Marnier souffle is a signature dessert but did not live up to its billing.

After many attempts, it was a real treat to get to La Foret. It's in a lovely rural setting. The staff is courteous and not in any way pretentious. The food is delectable. A word of caution - if you don't like overly sweet desserts, skip the Grand Marnier souffle. The far too sweet sauce spoiled the otherwise pleasant souffle.
