La Foret is such a gem. Tucked back at the end of lovely road through the oldest mining settlement in California, the location is wonderful and unexpected. Service is impeccable and quick. The food is superbly delicious and portioned just right. My cousin and I each had an entree and dessert, no apps, and it was a filling, satisfying meal.... More

La Foret never disappoints. Exceptional food, wine and service. Also a perfect venue for a wedding. I should know as that is where my husband and I tied the knot!

I attended 2 surprise parties recently, and this is a most unique venue.. Its out of the way, so no one would expect a large party... You get a private room upstairs with your own dedicated servers. The menu is set, but with so many pairings, there is something everyone will like - if not everything! And they have one... More

Absolutely world class food, service and atmosphere in rural New Almaden area of San Jose. It's out in the sticks, in the historic town that was the headquarters of the 1800's Gold Rush related mercury (quicksilver) mine. This is a special night kind of place, e.g. anniveraries, etc. The tasting menus are traditional but interesting. They specialize in wild meats... More

Reservations required. My family and I attended this quiet, beautiful restaurant located across the Quicksilver mines hike in Almaden. It has an unassuming outdoor presence, as it looks like a country home. Once inside you are treated like kings and queens with white tablecloths. We truly appreciate the quiet atmosphere, condusive to long conversations. We had the cheese plate for... More

I love the hideaway feel to this place...it's set way off the beaten path in a quaint bed and breakfast looking place. The tasting menu was very creative and well executed...classically rich French fare. My only complaint was that the service did not measure up to the price tag. I would expect far better service for the money. Don't get... More

We went here for a birthday celebration, and we're glad we did. The visit didn't start out the best because we waited for at least five minutes (honest!!) before anyone noticed us. I was fearful that it might be downhill from there, but we had a great waiter (Victor), and most everything else was first-rate. We knew it would be... More

This is an traditional, full service, restaurant in the best sense. Not many of these left it seems. Yes, the menu seems to be a flash back to 1977 but the food is properly prepared, elegantly served, and the tab will not cause heart palpitations. The atmosphere is calm and serene and one can participate in conversations without serious effort.... More
