Spectacular Food

My husband and I have been to this restaurant a handful of times and we are never disappointed. La Foret is hidden away down New Almaden. Honestly, I thought we were going the wrong way on our first visit because it't an expected place for a restaurant. This is part of what makes La Foret a great... read more

The drive out there is lovely, the restaurant is really cool, the service is impeccable, and the food is out of this world! We ate there last night for my Uncle's 81 birthday and the staff really went out of their way to make it a special event. Every thing ordered was absolutely delicious from salad to dessert. La Foret... More

I have eaten here several times and always have received great service and food. Their menu almost always has a wild game choice. I have tried the bore, elk, and buffalo. My favorite thing is the chocolate soufflé. All very good and not gamey in taste. It is expensive but worth it.

I had a couple of office Christmas parties and celebrations over there. The service was good. Food was very good! All my staff and family enjoyed them and that's why we went back a couple of times. It's location is a bit out of the way but that adds to the "affair". There's a little garden with a gazebo which... More

The food is absolutely great, especially the meat entrees. I really like the wild elk, but I'm weird that way. My wife is a big fan of foie gras and claims that their version is the best in Bay Area. The restaurant is located in a tiny town of New Almaden, which was "new" about 150 years ago (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Almaden). The... More

Executive summary: Location: Obscure, shady neighbourhood, in the middle of nowhere Service: ok Food: Rather good Summary: does not deserve to be nr 2 in San Jose This is probably one of the most difficult reviews I have ever written and you will soon understand why. The whole experience is rather different and not in a positive way. The restaurant... More

Ok so I did the unspeakable and opted for the Tasting Menu #2 for $135 a plate plus the wine pairing for another $49. The tasting menu was Scallops, Mixed Green, Lobster Tail, Elk, Kobe Beef and Dessert which I opted for the Grand Marnier Soufflé. Each plate except for the Mixed Green had a sauce which made for a... Went here for our 26th anniversary. It's a gem tucked into a get away from it all. We started with a spinach and goat cheese ravioli with compliments from the chef which was to die for! Then we had the scallops appetizer which was melt in your mouth goodness. My husband had the rack of lamb and I had the... More
