Surprisingly Good

I really did not expect to have such a great experience at Joe's because it has that diner look from the outside. But, when you get inside, you see it is more like a New York Italian Restaurant. I love Joe's when we are in town. Old school vibe, great service and delicious food. My favorite: dirty martini, rare steak with a baked potato. Are you judging me? I don't care. WORTH IT. My friend craves and orders the Chicken Piccata every time. The portions are huge, the fresh bread is a great starter. Sitting at the bar... More

Been going to OJ's since I was a kid. Has maintained it's character, good food, big portions and great service! If you have a chance, try sitting once at the counter and be entertained watching the chefs, cooks and waiters all hard at work. Otherwise, best time to arrive is between 3:00 and 5:00 pm. Earlier is better to avoid... More

Friendly staff, great tasty food, large portions, good downtown San Jose location. Near excellent hotels and light rail. Very nice environment. Been going there for over 25 years and it's still a great place to enjoy a good meal.

This type of Italian place is hard to find nowadays. They serve giant portions, but that is not really my style. I would rather have a little bit of great food than a huge plate of garbage. What I like here is the quality of the food, not the quantity. The veal parmigiana is about as good as I've found... More

Original Joe's has been serving San Jose for 60 years so they must be doing something right As we waited to be seated on a Friday evening the place was packed with couples, families, work groups and friends-nite-outers. The staff was professional and courteous, the dark wood decor reminded me of a high-end ice cream parlor. The menu was extensive... More

Orginal Joe's is a mid/upper range Italian restaurant in the old school style. They type of place you'd expect the Rat Pack to wander into in the early 1960's. The menu has just about every traditional Italian dish you can imagine This is not a "California Cuisine" or "New Age Italian" place. This restaurant is reminiscant of the slightly upscale... More

Felt like I was in an Italian Mafia restaurant. The waiters were dressed in black suits with bow ties. A tad bit overdressed for basically a sandwich shop. Our waiter never smiled and was rather cold. The food is decent but extremely over priced.
