I had a trip to San Jose last week and the dinner in Le Papillon make this trip unforgotten. We had an absolutely outstanding dining experience in a cozy, romantic and stylish atmosphere. Everything was perfect from the service to the food, in every way possible. the filet beef I had was cooked and flavored perfectly. Fine French desserts top... More

Okay once your inside the doors you are transported away to 'Paris' from the Strip-mall you just left outside. Food is inventive and classic 'french' small plates. The tasting menu ($110) is nicely paced and the service is impeccable. Wine pairing with the tasting menu ($65) are spot on and a new wine per course is always fun. Most plates... More

This is still our "go to" restaurant in Silicon Valley. Even after 37 years they are right on top of their game. The menu is creative the service not pushy the food outstanding and the wine list very complimentary to the menu with some decent buys. And don't miss the Grand Marnier soufflé - it doesn't crash down in the... More

Loved this place. Really fantastic food, with alot of attention to detail and creativity in the flavor pairings. Mmmm, lobster, venison, quail, couldn't ask for a better menu. Overall impression was excellent, with an elegant decor and very polite staff. Nice selection of wines on the list as well, with some of my California favorites. A+ all around, can't wait... More

Pro tip - no mobile device usage allowed in the dining room. Very contemporary ambiance and wonderful service. Great wine menu. Terrible beer selection (you can't be perfect I guess). I had the 4 course menu, I ordered the scallops, pea soup, venison, and soufflé. All very nice. I think the scallops was the peak of the night for me.... More

This charming and intimate dining room lends itself well to romance and give the diner a sense of walking into a fine establishment in Provence. The sommelier chose two exquisite wines for us, one half-bottle white and one half-bottle red, to compliment the diverse meal we planned to order. The menu is prix fixe with extraordinary appetizers, mains, and desserts.... More

I am not too fan of French restaurant where it is all about presentation but little food. The food is of the right amount and amazing. I was quite surprised given the location that such a good restaurant could be there. It has been around for a long time. You can also bring your own wine so you can enjoy... More

This is an excellent restaurant in San Jose, if you are looking for an upscale restaurant. As most French-related restaurants, significant attention is paid to service, and Le Papillon certainly comes second to none. We event got a digestif on the house to end our meal. We ordered a combination of appetizers and entrees to share, but not the tasting... More

We have been to Le Papillion a number of times in the past, and it has always been exceptional. I have been remiss in not giving it the glowing review it deserves, but believe me, this restaurant is one of the finest that we have ever had the pleasure of visiting. The service is impeccable, and yet never aloof and... More

Dinner for four was $500, which is acceptable for an outstanding restaurant. However, the food quality was inconsistent. The truffled Hamachi was excellent, as was the salsify soup. (The salsify soup was truly memorable) The poached lobster appetizer was good, but nowhere near as good as the soup. The hearts of palm salad was tough and flavorless; I did not... More
