Pro tip - no mobile device usage allowed in the dining room. Very contemporary ambiance and wonderful service. Great wine menu. Terrible beer selection (you can't be perfect I guess). I had the 4 course menu, I ordered the scallops, pea soup, venison, and soufflé. All very nice. I think the scallops was the peak of the night for me.... More

This charming and intimate dining room lends itself well to romance and give the diner a sense of walking into a fine establishment in Provence. The sommelier chose two exquisite wines for us, one half-bottle white and one half-bottle red, to compliment the diverse meal we planned to order. The menu is prix fixe with extraordinary appetizers, mains, and desserts.... More

I am not too fan of French restaurant where it is all about presentation but little food. The food is of the right amount and amazing. I was quite surprised given the location that such a good restaurant could be there. It has been around for a long time. You can also bring your own wine so you can enjoy... More

This is an excellent restaurant in San Jose, if you are looking for an upscale restaurant. As most French-related restaurants, significant attention is paid to service, and Le Papillon certainly comes second to none. We event got a digestif on the house to end our meal. We ordered a combination of appetizers and entrees to share, but not the tasting... More

We have been to Le Papillion a number of times in the past, and it has always been exceptional. I have been remiss in not giving it the glowing review it deserves, but believe me, this restaurant is one of the finest that we have ever had the pleasure of visiting. The service is impeccable, and yet never aloof and... More

Dinner for four was $500, which is acceptable for an outstanding restaurant. However, the food quality was inconsistent. The truffled Hamachi was excellent, as was the salsify soup. (The salsify soup was truly memorable) The poached lobster appetizer was good, but nowhere near as good as the soup. The hearts of palm salad was tough and flavorless; I did not... More

Although the location strikes one as odd upon arrival, this restaurant is truly not to be overlooked. The food, service and ambiance once inside feels far removed from the city and is most conducive to a lovely evening. The wine list and sommelier are also not to be missed. Can't wait to return!

My colleague and I were looking for a good restaurant amid the generic strip types so familiar to the Silicon Valley. Our hotel gave us a list of places nearby and under the heading "French" there was only one, Le Papillon. We arrived and found an attractive room and a gracious host as well as wait staff. The menu is... More

If you enjoy the "French experience" or have never been to a true French restaurant then you have to try "Le Papillon", close your eyes and you can hear the accordion and the French chattering. Actually I take that back as you'd lose the pleasure of the decor. I can;t think of a better restaurant in San Jose. As others... More

This is a restaurant that is definitely suited for a special dinner. The food was very good. We both chose the 4 course menu (appetizer; soup or salad; main; dessert) – and enjoyed almost every bite (not a fan of the bone marrow ravioli that came with the tenderloin (not a comment on the preparation, just my personal taste.)) The... More
