Description: We are a very casual BBQ "joint" in the traditional sense. The focus is on the food. Slow smoked meats, homemade sides, rubs, sauces and desserts. Friendly service, at home feel. Excellent beer and wine lists (no kidding). Live or recorded Blues all the time. Genuine Southern BBQ.

By far this is the best Texas style BBQ and most authentic in the Valley. This is not SC style, it is all southern and leans to Texas. Not a good place for a diet. Mac and cheese rocks Try the bits for sure Pulled BBQ chicken is amazing Get there early for lunch or wait 5 Stars for class... More

This was by far one of the best BBQ meals that we have had. It's not fancy, but the food is amazing. My husband had the pulled pork dinner and I had the Brisket dinner. We had cornbread, cole slaw, mac and cheese, and beans. Everything was very tasty and fresh. The waitress was very nice and patient with our... More

It's a typical BBQ joint; nothing fancy. Good service from a busy and attentive staff. Well, I tried the ribs, brisket, pulled pork, mash, and cornbread. Ribs = mediocre. Brisket, little too fatty. Pulled pork also too fatty. Mash OK. Cornbread not sweet like I like it. I am not sure what the BBQ identity is here. Is it Carolina... More

Hi and thanks for the review. The server should have offered you a choice of Fatty or Lean brisket. We offer everyone that choice so that they can get what they prefer, not what we want to give them. If they neglected to make that offer, please accept my apologies. We wish the pulled pork had a little more fat... More

My husband is always looking for a place with great smoked meats and this place did not disappoint. The beef ribs and especially the burnt tips were fantastic. The housemade sauces were very good. Nice choices of side dishes--loved the cornbread. Friendly, helpful service.

I'm a GA native and lived in Southeast all my life. I felt a touch of home when on a solo business trip in San José once coming to Smoking Pig. The joint is just that...come to be impressed by the food and great service! I tried the pulles pork sandwich with homemade house mac 'n cheese...delicious! If you want... More

Got an idea that it might be good based on the multiple smokers in the parking lot. Excellent food, the beef ribs and burnt tips were outstanding. Fast and friendly service.

Average price for ribs & pulled pork sandwiches (sammie). They serve cole slaw & baked beans & corn bread for sides, Peanut butter pie (chiffon type) and key lime. The pies aren't that great....if you prefer a more cheesecake texture...pass on the pies.

While traveling through San Jose I stopped here based on Tripadvisor reviews. I really didn't expect to find Southern BBQ in San Jose, but this is as authentic as it gets. The pulled pork was very tender, and the mac-n-cheese is very good and a little unique. The food was served hot and quickly, and service was very good. I... More

Our group of 15 was promptly seated on a Saturday night, despite no reservations. The menu was extensive and had something for everyone. I had the stew, which was loaded with meat, sausage and veggies in a flavorful soup and served with sweet cornbread. Husband had brisket which could be ordered lean, fatty or half and half. It came with... More

My husband is in San Jose on business a lot. He eats here every time he's in town and he talks about it when he's not. I finally got to taste it myself and it was pretty good. I'm not as crazy about it as he is but...I'm not a BBQ fan the way he is.
