Great Little Place in San Pedro Square

Firehouse No 1 was the first place my partner and I headed to after landing in San Jose for a week long holiday in March 2015. We did a little pre-planning and picked this place based on Trip Advisor reviews and their website. It was a beautiful day outside, so enjoyed lunch on their outdoor... read more

I'm from Singapore and in the area for work. Was really looking forward the famous pork belly sliders. Unfortunately, jerk of a bartender refuses to accept my Singapore driver's licence AND national ID! Tried to explain to him but he kept saying Cali laws only allow US and foreign passports. Said they only card folks who look below 30, but... More

Ive been on a quest to find the perfect burger in downtown San Jose. Firehouse 1 under delivered. The service was poor (seemed over staffed and under serviced). Also the burger took a very long time even though I was the only patron at lunch. When it came out the bun was drippings soggy (which meant it had been sitting).... More

The atmosphere at this restaurant was great. The food was okay, and same with the drinks. The waiter was hilarious and made the whole experience. I went with a large group, and it was hard for them to accommodate us with order accuracy.

A nice "gastropubby" place around the corner from my hotel (the De Anza). I was quite surprised at the number of different eateries in this area that from the general appearances seems like a wasteland. I kind of stumbled into this little place by accident and was pleased with my choice. A high-quality burger is what I wanted and it... More

The food was great, we had the angry prawns over polenta and a cheeseburger. Cocktails left a lot to be desired. Hard to get in so be sure to make a reservation.

It is a very rare occasion that Tripadvisor get a rating so completely wrong! Firehouse No.1 has to be one of the worst eatery's I have been to for quite sone time. The service was snail pace, 2 of the 5 main dishes were sold out, the steak had more fat and gristle in it than steak, the restrooms were... More

The pork belly sliders were delicious and a nice introduction to brussel sprouts. A very easy walk from the SAP center or convenient public parking with restaurant validation. Service was great and enjoyable atmosphere for conversation and relaxation.

Located in the heart of the San Pedro. Small on the outside but definitely fills the space and patrons well. Host, wait, and bar staff are prompt with friendly acknowledgement. Service is offered efficiently from orders to delivery. Food comes out hot and extremely efficiently. Wait for food was rare. Portion sizes are filling and flavorful. Good rotating craft beer... I think they are trying but they have a ways to go. Cool pub ambiance with a very nice outdoor seating area. Decent service with friendly staff. I order a beer. They don't have it. I order a wine. They don't have it. I order a main. They don't have it. After the second occurrence I get concerned about how... More
