The staff is super friendly and the waitress told me her favorite so I had to follow her suggestion! I had 1/2 Ruben and 1/2 Pastrami with Slaw! Amazing to say the least! I'm not a huge fan of the beers they have, but that's just me! What I didn't expect was how large the portions are, I was stuffed!... More

I have visited NYC numerous times and tried Katz several times. I've also been to Carnegie Deli. Both have good deli sandwiches but i would take the Refuge pastrami sandwich any day over them. There are other choices at the Refuge including the Mole Burger, some excellent fries but it is the pastrami that stands out. It also offers an... More

My husband and I ate here yesterday and split the Reuben and the Mole Burger. The Reuben is quite pricey ($18), but it's the best we've ever had. The Mole burger was spicy but a distant third (the garlic fries were second -- make sure you order some!) We loved their draft beer selection but wish the beer flights allowed... More

Both my husband and love delicious and flavorful food and The Refuge delivered! We share Pastrami and Swiss sandwich with side of garlic fries both were full of flavor. For dessert we order bread pudding and Oh My God! Carmel sauce was decadent but vanilla whip cream cut sweetness. Bread pudding simply wonderful.

I don't know if I'm eating pastrami or butter. It is hands down some of the best pastrami on the planet. This place is absolutely incredible. Fantastic belgian beer selection too! Don't miss the goofy fries.

We tried the pastrami burger and the cheesesteak sandwich. They were both strictly okay, but it was way overpriced for the kind of pub food they offer.

There is nothing I love more than a good Reuben. I went to Refuge because they advertise how great their pastrami is. I have to tell you, sadly, that the Reuben I got was, by far, the worst Reuben I have ever eaten. Anywhere. Period. There was nothing redeeming about it and I have eaten A LOT of Reubens. To... More

Pastrami lovers look no further. Just what I needed after a busy day and feeling quite hungry. Stopped in on a Friday evening around 8:00 PM. The restaurant was pretty full but a couple of outside tables were available. With only my husband and I we were easily accommodated. When the outside heater wouldn't light, one of the waiters promptly... More

It's a bit of a hike up the peninsula to Refuge, but the #19 ("The Toasted Slaw" - Pastrami, coleslaw, swiss, russian dressing, toasted rye) makes it all worthwhile. The pastrami is smokey, almost sweet and melt-in-your-mouth tender. Before I ate at Refuge, I thought that pastrami was OK, but the meat at this place is transformative. It's so good... More

We went there with some family. They had a good beer selection from light to dark Belgian style. Good garlic fries with house made spicy mayo. Burgers are big and juicy and their pastrami was great, not too salty.
