We were driving highway 101 looking for a place for an early dinner and decided to find something in Salinas, CA. As we headed south we passed the usual generic junk food establishments. When we got off the highway, we stumbled upon Los Altos. The service was prompt and friendly. There was a group playing Mexican music. We stuck to... More

After a long drive, needed a bite to eat and saw signage from the freeway. My wife and I walked into Los Altos Restaurant and to our amazement a small musical group was singing and playing...lots of atmosphere...and charming. The food is what I expected from an authentic Mexican eatery, in-fact, my wife commented that the food was just like... More

This was the worst Mexican restaurant we have ever visited. The service was friendly and efficient but the food was horrible! We have had better food eating off the street vendor carts in Mexico! We had huevos rancheros which neither looked or tasted like huevos rancheros. Our nieces had tacos with mystery meat and chicken that tasted like shoe leather.... More

I have been going to Mexican restaurants all of my life and enjoyed all of them. However, we ended up in Los Altos on Mother's Day evening with disastrous results. The first thing we found out was they take no names for seating. I finally figured that out and we waited patiently while Mexican groups were seated who came in... More

Typical sit down local Mexican restaurant. The servers were polite and helpful. We had a good variety of dishes and they were all good.

We stopped for gas and were looking for a place to have a late lunch, saw Los Altos with several cars in the parking lot. Very surprised at the variety of dishes offered and the seafood! Some diners had huge plates of crab legs and shrimp. There is a daily special and we ordered the shrimp soup - the Friday... More

Food was reasonably placed, interesting and delicious. Great service. Mariachi band came in, but not the tourist-y kind. It felt very authentic and added to the fun. Families, young guys in cowboy hats, teenagers all dressed up, great scene.

This restaurant is on the hotel strip off the highway. We were staying at the nearby Best Western and the desk clerk reecommended Los Altos. It looks like a local place, busy, loudish music, but what fun for us because we were driving to Mexico and the restaurant gave a nice foretaste. My chile rellenos appetizer was excellent. The bucket... More

Great place by the hotel I stay at. Excellent traditional mexican food with great salsa. I agree, the band can be loud and annoying. The food makes up for it. Over the last three years the quality has decreased, but is still a good deal.

Visited here on a Thursday lunch. They were a little busy but we were seated immediately. Ordered drinks, had a few questions on the menu but waitress was great to answer all questions. Food was delivered timely (cheese enchiladas and carne asada for husband). Food was okay, not bad but seemed bland to us. Salsa and chips were tasty, beer... More
