I had udon soup and my wife had sushi. I had an undrinkable glass of Cabernet and a beer and my wife had saki. The bill was over $50 and the food was average at best. My wife enjoyed her sushi. My soup had some awful pressed fish even though I ordered chicken udon. My wife was served her meal... More

Ordered the Heart Attack appetizer and waited....and waited....and waited. 40 minutes later they said it would be ready in "five more minutes". It arrived at our table barely warm enough to eat; this is a deep-fried dish and should be served hot! What took so long? Was it sitting somewhere for that whole time and then somebody happened to find... More

Shogun is an old stand by in Salinas. I have never had a bad meal there. The Chef owner is always there. It remains my favorite Japanese restuarant in the entire Monterey Bay area.

This is an old standby when we are going to a movie or attending other events in Salinas. This night was a bit "off". We each ordered a glass of white wine (they don't have a wine list), and the wine seemed like something from a bargain gallon jug, plus it was not chilled. Not good at all. When we... More

this place is great!! they are always busy & the food is out of this world. portions are huge & they do sushi as well. I love the miso soup with the green onions & tofu chunks. I usually go with friends and we all leave satisfied.

My family and i ate at Shogun for the first time, but the experience was very uncomfortable for us. We were given dirty looks both by other customers & employees who also made some rude comments under their breath. because our 15 month daughter was having a bad time.we were made to feel unwelcome and like a bother to them.I... I highly recommend Shogun. I eat there often. The staff is friendly and upbeat. The owners are always working in the restaurant and talking with customers. The food is great. Best teriyaki I've ever had. Handrolls are exceptional. I recommend the Toyotomi box or the beef roll, but the salmon teriyaki and the Oda box are also very good.
