Great place for a small family or get together with a friend. It's a very homey place with great character. The food was pretty average. But tasted good. The only downside to this place is the parking is really tough, there are hardly any spots, and the wait is generally a 20-30 minutes on a weekend morning for breakfast. Prices... More

The name of this little roadside diner might suggest a Mexican-centric menu, but there are only a few south-of-the-border-style offerings, none of any distinction. Instead, this is a burger joint, and a fairly good one as the genre goes. The sandwiches are largely variations on standard comfort-food themes, but well prepared and with plenty of options for getting the burger... More

I wanted to like this place. It is located on busy highway 68 between Salinas and Monterey and has a lovely, friendly ambiance. The patio is home to a few nosy blue jays who survey the area and give you looks that say "are you going to finish those fries?" The wait staff is friendly and helpful with special needs.... More

I've lived in salinas for 30 years, and Toro place cafe is just a classic around here. It's so peaceful , country folk kind of setting, without being old fashioned. Very nice setting, you can even eat outside in the back, with the sound of water in the background. ( from a water feature). Everything we've ever ordered is GREAT... More

While on the way over to Laguna Seca for the Sea Otter Classic, I stopped in at the Toro for breakfast. This is a fun local hangout, obvious by each customer that enter, for the most part, was called by name and escorted to the usual seat. The found was typical breakfast food, well prepared and just the right size.... More

We have stopped here a couple of times when attending the motorcycle races at Laguna Seca racetrack. No lines, good food, and service, decent prices.

This restaurant has been at the top of my favorites list for MANY years. It has all the tools, good food, great service, superior ambiance, reasonable prices and great location. They must treat their employees well, as they have had the same crew for many years and they are high quality. This place is a must, when visiting Monterey County.... More

Great place for breakfast and lunch on Highway 68. Small and cozy so plan to get there early, especially on the weekends, to avoid a wait. Full breakfast and lunch menu but the breakfast is the most popular. Great omelets and burgers and the service is friendly and prompt. Outside patio seating to enjoy the great weather away from the... More

We've stopped at the Toro Place Café on a previous trip to the area. We decided after a morning of hiking the trails across the highway we'd stop for breakfast. The morning rush had subsided, so we were seated quickly. Both times we've eaten here, the food has been very fresh and tasty. Would highly recommend for breakfast.
