The menu is extensive and their breakfasts are terrific

The Toro Cafe serves breakfast and lunch only (with breakfast service until 11:30 a.m.). "Castroville" features artichoke hearts, and the inclusion of that delicacy gives it a bit of an edge in my pantheon of great omelettes. They also serve... More

We have driven by numerous times but never when we were looking for a place to eat. On Saturday morning I decided I would give it a try. They opened at 6:30, earlier than a lot of out of the way breakfast spots so that was a plus. I had a chance to look over the menu before the host... More

Others have accurately written that it is an easy spot to miss. Great food, awesome owner with an understandably loyal, awesome staff and customer base. Menu is simple, food is great, value is over the top. What I found impressive is that after trying one of the burgers, which was good, and making a suggestion to the server (who I... More

My wife and I are truckers so we heave eaten all over the usa. We found this place to be hands down a great place to go have a good meal with great service and the owner came to see if all was good. We both agreed that this was to be a stop we will make every trip here.

Breakfast meeting early on a Wednesday. Solid eats with expedient service and plenty of decent Jo. Our server was quite good, continuously checking to ensure we had all we needed. Solid, home-cooked type breakfast foods sufficient to keep your motor running until a late lunch. Recommend it heartily!

Great place for a small family or get together with a friend. It's a very homey place with great character. The food was pretty average. But tasted good. The only downside to this place is the parking is really tough, there are hardly any spots, and the wait is generally a 20-30 minutes on a weekend morning for breakfast. Prices... More

The name of this little roadside diner might suggest a Mexican-centric menu, but there are only a few south-of-the-border-style offerings, none of any distinction. Instead, this is a burger joint, and a fairly good one as the genre goes. The sandwiches are largely variations on standard comfort-food themes, but well prepared and with plenty of options for getting the burger... More

I wanted to like this place. It is located on busy highway 68 between Salinas and Monterey and has a lovely, friendly ambiance. The patio is home to a few nosy blue jays who survey the area and give you looks that say "are you going to finish those fries?" The wait staff is friendly and helpful with special needs.... More

I've lived in salinas for 30 years, and Toro place cafe is just a classic around here. It's so peaceful , country folk kind of setting, without being old fashioned. Very nice setting, you can even eat outside in the back, with the sound of water in the background. ( from a water feature). Everything we've ever ordered is GREAT... More
