This is our second visit to Greystone. This meal was different than the last and just as great. We made reservations, weeks ahead. Drop-ins had to be turned away due to no seats available, so make reservations. The wait staff doesn't miss an opportunity to serve. The food was prepare by graduates of the program, so they produced a very... More

Outstanding terrasse with a great view for sunny days. Great food with a reduced options menu. Excellent wine selection with a few local artisan beers. In general everything is good, the service in the table is acceptable, with minor details. Just when we arrived, we stayed for more than 5 minutes in the entrance, and nobody receive us, finally we... More

One of the all time best. Never go to Napa without going to Greystone Restaurant and Culinary School. The dining is always excellent, the wines divine, do have a designated driver and try the wine sampler. The restaurant itself is a feast for the eyes, and the food a gastronomical experience. We always manage to take some classes while there... More

Greystone is a classroom for soon to graduate Culinary Institute students. Each must rotate thru every position in the restaurant including wait staff. The "yelling" that some reviewers mentioned is the faculty chef shouting out instructions to the many student chefs working in the open view kitchen that allows diners to see them in action. It's part of the unique... More

Venue...Bistro style with a very good view of the open kitchen. The structure causes it to be a little noisy, but tables were well spaced. Service was excellent. He was only two weeks from graduation at the Culinary Institute, would have preferred chefing to serving, but saw the importance of the wait experience as a time he would interact with... More

It's not just staffed by the students, but by professional chefs, including the instructors. Very cool inside, like a Tuscan castle. The entire kitchen is central and open so you can observe students. Pro tip - get the charcuterie app, one of the best I have ever had. You can taste olive oil too which is cool. And free valet... The food at Greystone was quite good. Our dessert was amazing! The service is a little peculiar -- kind of slow and not quite right -- but they are students from the CIA who are there to learn so it kind of makes sense. Definitely worth visiting.

Had a great Dinner, Great service, and very close to where we stayed. The CIA folks are ready to go out and start their own deal. Really liked this place !

I had heard great things about this restaurant but also read some recent reviews that said when they transitioned to students having a larger role than the supervising professional chefs, the quality went down ... my friend and I did not have that experience at all. The food quality was fantastic - every bit from the appetizer, salad, entrees, and... More

We have driven by Greystone many times and admired the grounds and building and finally decided to give it a try. We were served by a CIA student named James who recommended that we start with the Greystone Garden Salad, which was delicious. I ordered the Brick–Roasted Chicken and my companion decided to try the Wild Pacific King Salmon. They... More
