A great meal at this student-operated restaurant

I had been looking forward to seeing what the Culinary Institute of America student-run restaurant would offer but had been concerned about recent reviews here. I'm glad I chose to go forward with my plans. Our party of four had a fine meal, the service was flawless, and I think it was a very... read more

We didn't know it at the time, but we booked for the night before graduation. The atmosphere was fantastic, the students were there with their families running around and the restaurant was full and the menu was super. The student-prepared menu was really good. My starter had the best poached egg I ever had in my life by chef Marcello.... More

We had a delicious dinner here and it was fun to watch the students do their thing. All the food was wonderful and our server was attentive and helpful. A very well run teaching kitchen with a flair and fun.

First let me comment on the service. I realize that these are all students training to be chef, well I can tell you that the service is about as good as anywhere you can ever go. For tonight's meal we had 2 appetizers one of them was the smoked duck breast flavor was ridiculous. The other was a steelhead trout... More

Great dinner as usual in a great setting with lots of energy but quiet enough to fully enjoy your companions. Food as always is the best without being too complex or "foody" - some chefs seem like they just want to show off with their choice of ingredients. The wait staff are very well trained and can answer all your... More

It was fun watching the culinary students prepare and serve our meals. Student waitstaff were friendly and shared their experience when asked. Food was exceptional.

We always enjoy eating at Greystone. The price is reasonable and the food ranges from good to exceptional. You can request recipes and try them yourself--warning, they will be challenging! This past fall the students took over the entire management of the restaurant. Because that reduced the staffing levels, hours have been cut. Lunch is no longer served. Dinner is... More

The students do all the cooking and serving here. Food was pretty good, the students ranged from nervous to very fun. A good way to spend a night out different from high-end dining.

The restaurant had a 4 day "pop up" special with a chef form the Abruzzo region of Italy directing a special farm to table menu. The students working the tables were all from the Hyde Park (NY) campus of CIA. It is a MUST to engage these interesting people in conversation. It is silly to think they are just going... More

We arrived about 15 minutes before our 5:30 reservation which was the first seating of the night. We waited and enjoyed watching the staff preparing to open. We were the first people seated and it was almost 5:45. By 7:15 we had been served one course. The student waitstaff were trying to be helpful and do great service. Not sure... More
