So maybe this place would be more interesting when buzzing, but when we were there on a recent rainy night, it seemed surprisingly ordinary. Nothing was wrong, but nothing was especially interesting either. Maybe we were a little wined-out and tired by dinner time, and that colored our impression? Maybe we're spoiled by all the good choices at home in... More

I had the Duck Confit and sweat potato hash and the Seasonal Fritto Misto. One of the best meals that I have ever had.

Was here fall 2012 with 6 friends during our Napa Tour and we could to find any fault with the food or service. Ordered pretty much everything we could put on a table and damn well worth it. You have to order the burrata. 2nd time round, we brought a couple with us and boy were they delighted. The grilled... More

It was a rainy - very rainy night. There were only a few patins who braved the weather to go to dinner. i have been eating there since the 1990s. I find it consistently good.

Great restaurant in downtown St. Helena. The beef short ribs are great as is desert. The service on my night was a little spotty. I had to find the waitperson to ask for the bill. They also do NOT charge a corkage fee if you bring your own bottle of wine, highly unusual in the valley.

The room is still nice, but we dined at the end of November and I think the staff was tired of smiling and the kitchen/ wines were not up to typical standards. Nothing was better then a 7 out of 10. Mozzarella was chewy and lacking in any flavor. Ceasar was not edible. We had to beg for pasta with... More

Tra Vigne is a jewel. Casual but elegant atmosphere, very attentive service. To simply say the wine list is extensive would be an understatement. Prices range from $40 to $1200! Dinners are very reasonable. Most expensive item is $32 and is WONDERFUL (its the braised smoked short ribs) There are choices for fish, chicken, and beef. Salads are also very... More

I hesitated about dining here, since we went here years ago, and I sort of thought nothing could stay great for long --- heard it had had some changes. Not to worry --- it was great! We shared the burratta appetizer - to die for. The pasta I had was incredibly good, and the special pizza was more than we... More

After a long day of wine tasting this is a great choice for early or late dining. It is located conveniently right on 29 just south end of St Helena's downtown area. The Italian inspired fresh local food is worth the visit, but there are some notables. We went at the recommendation of one of the wine tasting room folks... More

Although I have never eaten at the French Laundry,or Buchon, or Ad Hoc,I have had some really great meals at Tra Vigne over the past 25 years. I don't usually waste money at exorbitantly priced restaurants. This place is very reasonably priced for what you get and the food is first rate and served in a pleasant and comfortable setting by...
