We had lunch there twice this year. Yes, we ate there before for lunch and dinner as well. Good size dishes and tasty. We had chicken, tofu with seafood, beef hot pot, general cho's chicken, pan fried cantonese style noodle, chinese vegetables, steamed 3 kinds of eggs (texture resembled a flan, though not sweet).... only turnip cakes this time was... I have eaten at Fortune House many times over the years and have always had a good meal. When I am visiting a friend downtown and we want Chinese food this is the place that we go to. They have a good selection of dim sum at lunch time every day or you can order off the menu. Their dinner... More

We've eaten at Fortune House for years for many of our large and small gatherings. The food is authentic and delicious. Try the lobster with scallions and ginger and you'll be a believer. Let's hope it continues under the new management. As mentioned above, it is a traditional Chinese restaurant in terms of service.

The four of us went to Fortune House for dinner. Selected three from the menu of "Select 3 for $XX. Ordered the beef and gai lan, steamed tofu with minced meat, baked breaded fillet and eggplant with chicken and salted fish. All very tasty and enjoyable. The beef strips were tender (not spongy) and the gai lan were young and... More

We come here with my mother in law who is from Hong Kong. If you are not used to traditional Chinese restaurants, you might be surprised by the service. Even we with a table full of Chinese people and a woman who seems to know half the employees need to wave them down to get water, more napkins, etc. That's... More

Good selection, reasonable service, decent food. The skins on steamed items were too thick for my taste, but it beats driving to San Francisco. We sat down after 1pm and service ends at 2, but selection was still decent -- a plus, since many dim sum restaurants start to close out selection as closing time looms near.

I went twice to this restaurant to get a take away dinner. I ordered one of their value meals from the laminated menu, Canton style. This was one of the testies chinese dinners that I ever had and this is why I went back. I especialy liked the foild wrapped chicken and the noodles. The wonton soup was also excellent.... More

Manager Michael is the RUDE dude that spoils going there. They charge $10 corkage fee when you bring your own wine to kill the party mood. The guy with the earring must be taking lessons from him too. He STRONGLY insisted for a tip on us opening our bottles while using our own wine glasses. So here's my TIP =... More

In Sacramento for a family wedding, we dropped by Fortune House for a quick dinner. The family fixed dinner. $45 for 6 of us. I'd like to go back to try out more dishes.

The dim sum is pretty good and the prices are reasonable. I liked just about everything except the baked cha siu bow did not have very much meat in them. I would pass on these next time. The atmosphere is typically pretty noisy for a more authentic type of Chinese restaurant, but it was reasonably clean and there was a... More
