The prices are high enough to suggest an excellent fare, however the tacos I ordered were fair. The rice and beans were flavorless. My sons pizza was burnt and the cheese had a rancid aftertaste. Mom's seafood salad was fresh and she enjoyed it. We also had to wait for the hostess to notice us and seat us. Actually a... More

It's a shame to see that we didn't meet your expectations with your last visit -- this definitely isn't the kind of food we'd like to serve. Your food should be flavorful, fresh, and delicious -- just as your mother described it. As far as our service goes, it sounds like there may have been a miscommunication between servers about... First off ... the food is delicious ... and at a fair price. My seafood jumbalaya in spicy red sauce for $21 was excellent, a generous portion, and served within 7 minutes of ordering. The steaks are juicy, large, and served hot ... my pet peeve at any eatery. We also had a company banquet here for 20 nurses and... More

David, we're so glad we could get you a great meal for your company banquet, and we're honored that you thought of us when planning for such a special event. That said, your note about the difference in the dining rooms is a helpful one -- upstairs definitely has a different feel than the main area. It's always beneficial for... More

Staying close by, seen the restaurant but it always looked packed. 5:30 and there were parking spots left so we thought we would check the Malabar out. Was seated by a very pleasant hostess, by the window, in a booth. Waiter came quickly and had large glasses of water in no time. Happy hour until 7 pm but only applies... More

This restaurant was in a good location by the hotel I was staying. It was within walking distance. The rib eye I ordered came hot and cooked to my likely. The serving was more than adequate. The restaurant had a full bar but limited beer selections. The staff was friendly and helpful.

I love their happy hour. Good selection at reasonable prices. Best calamari in Sacramento. Good drinks and not too rowdy on weeknights. If you are getting off a plane and are hungry you can stop on the way into town. It takes 10 minutes and is right off freeway at Del Paso Blvd.

I went on a Tuesday night and it was Taco night. This was an all night happy hour of special Patron drinks and tacos. The Carnitas were excellent and the fresh lime margaritas were some of the best I've had. I come to the area on business several times a year and will be bringing clients here next time as... More

Very disappointed! Tasted frozen fish (battered fish and chips). The enchilada was so hard it couldn't be cut with a knife - frozen and over microwaved. Brought another since the first wasn't editable, softer but still required sawing with a knife!

Wow, Denise -- we're so sorry to hear that this was the case. This is certainly not how our meals are typically received, nor is this the caliber of food we aim to serve. We can assure you that we only use the freshest of ingredients, so it sounds like you caught us on an off-night in the kitchen. It's... More

Looks like a typical bar/grill, especially when you come in and are surrounded by TVs blaring out various sports events and an active bar scene. You need to be willing to put up with the usual noise expected at a sports bar. However, they make a good effort at cooking, and we got much better food than the norm for... More

The food at Malabar is delicious! From the burgers to the salads to the sea food, I have yet to get something I haven't liked. Not sure if this is still on the menu, but if you like chile rellenos, you have to try the chile relleno burger (definitely not a calorie counter)! Malibar has a sports bar feel to... More

The fare was very average. Nothing special. The service was good. The selection of wine and beer was below average.
