Twice in two days in Sacramento

Visiting Sacramento for the first time, I was introduced to Mulvaney's yesterday for a business lunch and was so impressed that I came back today with a dinner date, and Mulvaney's didn't disappoint. Top notch food and service.

We've eaten here several times and it has always been one of our favorite restaurants anywhere--certainly among the very best in Sacramento. The owner, Patrick Mulvaney, is always there, cruising the floor, delivering for his wait staff, checking that everything is what it should be. He is one of the leaders of 'farm to fork' local sourcing of excellent ingredients... More

Mulvanay's is our go to restaurant in Sacramento. The atmosphere, food and creative cocktails are consistently fantastic! We have business lunches, dinner with couples or fun for a big group. When we have vistors from out of town we take them here so they can experience fine dining in Sacramento without the stuffiness:-) Pasta, Steak, Foie Gras, you can't go... More

I have to admit, it's become my favorite. The food and service is excellent, it's hard to find better. The decor is a non-pretentious mix of modern and rustic, all are welcome. The bartenders pack their drinks with as much flavor as their personalities. When you visit, and visit soon; say hi to the amenable Sara Jean and the debonair... More

The patio was delightful and a nice place for conversation, the indoors was quite crowded and loud and not sure I could have heard in there. The food was worth every penny (actually dollars and bring lots) and definitely should be considered among top ranking spots in Northern California. The wine list is sound, we choose a McIntyre Pinot Noir... More

With all of the new places to choose from downtown I still keep Mulvaneys at the top of the list. Fresh food always prepared perfectly and a comfortable, relaxing environment. I have attained several large events here as well where food is brought our banquet style and the staff does an exceptional job bringing it out piping hot, and never... More

Feels like a San Francisco Bar and Grille. That's a good thing! Halibut was exceptional. The pasta dish was good. Good service. Metered parking is a bit of a hassle, but that comes with dining in downtown Sacramento.

Last night we celebrated our anniversary with a dinner at Mulvaney’s B&L, located in a disused firehouse in midtown Sacramento. First, a word about parking: there isn’t any! On Saturday night midtown turns into a sea of cars, all looking for the one parking place that is open at any second. You will eventually find a spot, but be sure... More

This charming restaurant is located in midtown Sacramento in an old brick firehouse. It is a building that I never noticed for years. The ambience is delightful, however the patio looked really nice, especially in the summer. We had excellent cocktails, smoked salmon as an appetizer served with chopped egg and capers. Entrees for four included scallops, a huge pork... More

I took my mother to Mulvaney's for her birthday, and asked upon entering if they could bring a dessert for her at the end. The "smile" in Mr. Mulvaney's quote on the restaurant's site was nowhere to be found. Everyone working in the restaurant was so indifferent. Sure, that could be misinterpreted, and thus overlooked, if other aspects stood out... More
