Neighborhood Bistro Hits the Spot

Cafe Vinoteca is a friendly comfortable neighborhood bistro, just the spot to pop in for a casual lunch or dinner where you're likely to run into friends or have a nice chat with the owner. The menu has a nice selection of pastas and pizzerias, supplemented by several nice entrees, and always a few... read more

My friend and I both thought the service was very poor: wait staff never came back to check if everything was okay and had to ask for refills on water, soda and coffee. Lasagna was only okay; muscle were small and less than a dozen for the entree. Bread was stale. For a relatively quiet evening I would have expected... More

We hadn't visited Cafe Vinoteca for years and had forgotten how delicious it is. We both ordered the NY steak pasta dish and it was wonderful. The steak was cooked to perfection and the sauce was rich and wonderful. Some items are a bit pricey but there are many mid range dishes also. The atmosphere has a warm glow about... More

My co-worker and I dined at this restaurant for the first time on a Tuesday night and weren't sure what to expect. Entry to the café is via a side street off of Fair Oaks, then upon entering the building, one must walk back a bit as there are other dining places within the structure. Upon entering, we were greeting... More

I'm always on the lookout for good Italian, so I was hopeful about this place. Yelp reviews were promising. But despite an appealing menu, the food was nothing special. Combine that with a location in a strip mall away from the city center, and prices that should correlate with better food, and there's really no reason to patronise this one.

Just had the most excellent lunch with my Aunt. We had the spinach salmon salad with caramelized onions and warm bacon dressing. I had l nice glass of Pinot Grigio from Italy and of course their famous banana cream pie. Prices are more reasonable than I remember and service excellent.

Visiting friends in Sacramento who brought my husband and I to this lovely, intimate restaurant. We started with a green salad accompanied by the house foccacia with oil and balsamic vinegar. Yum. I honestly did not notice what anyone else ordered. But all the plates were clean when we were done. I had the risotto with grilled scallops. Wow! The... More

this place was described as a neighborhood eatery, and if this is typical food for this neighborhood then I want to move here! It sits close to the road, at an intersection, but it is a little tricky to get in to the parking lot (you have to go around the block through a neighborhood). It shares a building and... More

Oh yes, scallopine and other expected entrees, Spaghetti, minestrone, all very good, but with their own italian touch Near a busy street but the traffic sound is completely blocked out, but inside the bar is too noisy. Interesting wine racks. Service friendly and prompt

Good food, good service! Nice little restaurant which is open for lunch and dinner. I have been there for both, several times, as well as for appetizers. They have a nice wine selection and a small bar. For lunch I have had their Eggplant Ptarmigan sandwich which was delicious as well as their Salmon, BLT sandwich and would recommend both!... More
