This is one of our favorite restaurants in Sacramento. Rick Mahan, the owner, produces wonderful meals. We particularly like the occasional prixe fixe dinners, but his take on Jacques Pepin last night left us disappointed. The appetizer was very good. The trout almondine was superb. The soup was, well, OK, but not that good. A little 'mushy'. The bouef bourguigon... More

My Sacramento hosts invited me there for dinner a Saturday evening. We all had tartar salmon and six small oysters w/ mignonette as hors-d’oeuvre, then pasta with rabbit as a main dish, and I finished with a delicious crostada (or crumble) for dessert. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Basically, you come here to share great food with friends. I had the seared scallops which were great and there is a good choice of wine by the glass. The staff were attentive and the chef was obviously on top form. Even on a Monday night, the restaurant was buzzing. But don't expect a pretentious Gordon Ramsay style of up-market... More

I have eaten here many times. The food is fresh, well prepared and very good. The servers are personable and attentive. I would and do recommend this restaurant to my friends.

A friend from Sacramento took me to The Waterboy and the food was fantastic. The flavors were interesting and they did a good job putting things together just right. I Fall Minestrone was really amazing and I had a bit of my friend's dessert: pumpkin spice pot de crème - fantastic. Definitely give it a try.

On the recommendation of a friend I made may way across town while I was in Sacramento on business to The Waterboy for lunch and was not disappointed. Several interesting menu choices, I selected the rockfish, which was delicious and enjoyed an excellent cafe latte. Wish I could have returned to sample some more of their menu....and will make a... My business partner and I decided to visit THE WATERBOY restaurant in Sacramento. It’s a good thing that we made reservations as it was quite crowded. (That’s a hint!) The last time we ate there was about a year and a half ago. This time my business partner ordered the Oysters on the Half Shell with Mignonette Sauce. His entrée... More

The food here is phenomenal and so are the bartenders--where I've always eaten. The bar is small and the fact that there is rarely a seat open is a testament to both the fantastic food and the personalities there. The owner/chef frequently pops out from the kitchen giving it that personal touch--the prices are in line with other similar restaurants... More

We have had several dinners at Waterboy over the last year and have tried so many of their menu choices. Each has been an incredible culinary experience.....delicious and as seasons evolve, so do the dishes. Would highly recommend you experience this wonderful restaurant!
