You MUST go to Rick's dessert diner when you are in Sac. You may have to wait outside on the sidewalk to get in, but don't let that stop you; there is a good reason for the long line. The cakes and other desserts are amazing. They also have classic sodas and ice cream. We ordered the Death by Chocolate... More

Ricks ALWAYS has a line. Just get there early. He is opening a new and bigger location, so the diner on K street won't be there too much longer. I have never had a dessert that I did not enjoy. Perfect for dates, friend hangouts and especially great on a Saturday night.

This was to be the highlight of a 24 hour stop over in Sacramento after coming up from Carlsbad to look at a house. I read all of the reviews on Yelp and Urbanspoon and we were set on having a delicious slice of mocha and expresso cake. The girl behind the counter was very helpful and patient while we... More

Presentation great and good vibe here. Raspberry creme frambois cake looked nice but was very dry, and creme was bland.

We took my five year old Birthday boy to Rick's on his weeknight birthday for a special treat. The building and atmosphere is very fun, but the baked goods look better than they taste. There is a small selection of ice cream, and my daughter's vanilla was quite good. The birthday boy didn't even finish his cookie. The coffee I... More

We stopped in at Ricks late on a Friday night. It was busy, waited in line for only about 20 minutes. Time enough to figure out what we were all going to order. The cakes are huge, the slices are definitely shareable. I had a raspberry cake that was divine. The pricing was decent too, average price for a monster... More

Had several of my friends say, "you've just got to try Rick's Diner, they are amazing." First time, I had a slice of pie and it was good, my wife and slice of cake. It was dry and my 7 year-old could do better. It looked great but was lacking in flavor. Tried it again since we were in the... More

Good desserts but the portions are enormous - I had a cream napoleon and it was honestly three times too big - if I ate it all I'd be dead of a hearattack The place isnt exactly very clean inside - dirt on the walls etc - floor not cleaned - some of the coolers where the cakes stored have... More

Cute place, fun atmosphere and great selection to satisfy any sweet tooth! The key lime pie was fabulous but the chocolate cake was a little dry and as a dessert snob, that's a pet peeve of mine. The icing, however, was really tasty.
