Classy, and Traditional Italian in Sacramento

Reminded me of being in Italy. You can tell the owner puts her heart and soul into her cooking. I enjoyed my dinner salad, tortellini, and dessert. Relaxing with a cuppachino was nice at the end of my meal. I like it also that is was a dress up place, not too casual like so many restaurants in... read more

I first met Biba thru her Learning Channel cooking classes, and I soon became one of her followers. I have two of her cook books and use them regularly. When a friend asked me to join him for a road trip to his winter home in Palm Springs a few years ago, I asked if we could stop off in... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend who is from California. While staying in Sacramento we dined there. The waitress made some recommendations which we ordered. One was an appetizer with scallops and cauliflower which sounded weird but it was outstanding! The special that evening was prawn stuffed raviolis, they too were outstanding. Would highly recommend this restaurant... More

We enjoyed a wonderful meal at this restaurant after a long hiatus. We started with a salad of fennel, citrus with frisee and goat cheese. The dressing was a simple olive oil lemon juice preparation. Excellent! For pasta we had Garganelli, a pasta I was not familiar with, with pork, veal, and procuitto and a porcini Mushroom ragu. Excellent. For entrees... More

I reviewed this before, and got the price of the daily 2 course lunch special wrong. It's $15, not $20. Freshly made soup and either a pasta or meat main course, and usually a specially priced Chianti. This makes it even more desirable, with local garage parking at $1/hr that always has spaces available.

Biba Caggiano serves not only the most authentic menus to represent her home town of Bologña, she also provides a showcase of specialties from the Emilia-Romana region of Italy. It is rare to see lasagña on the appetizer menu but Biba's lasagña is very lightly sauced with bechamel instead of a heavy bologñese sauce. It is one of the most... More

Biba is by far the best restaurant in town. The food is consistently fabulous. I eat there often and have never had anything I did not like. Biba herself takes the time to visit diners in the dining room and in the bar. Service is consistently excellent. John the bartender is the best bartender ever! He remembers your name and... More

Often overlooked because of all the new restaurant choices in downtown is this gem of true Italian food. Service is always top notch with a pleasant and helpful wait staff that know the dishes and the wines. This is not an inexpensive place but occasionally when I am craving good Italian its perfect. Thursday night they make a 17 layer... More

I have long considered Biba my favorite Sacramento restaruant. There are always a number of magnificant choices and I have yet to choose my favorite. It seems as if the last thing I had was my favorite but I have yet to have a poor meal. The smells, sauces, and ambiance is outstanding. Please note, reservations are frequently needed and... More

This is a tough one. The food was, as always, excellent. But. At least 10 minutes to even get acknowledged and take a drink order. Waitress: "Yeah, it took me a while to get here. It's been a long week." (This was a Saturday night, reservation at 6 p.m.) How about "I'm sorry"? At least 15 more minutes before she... More
