We had lunch at the Magpie and it was pretty good. The place is very appealing visually, and has an interesting character but overall, our experience was just average. We had been there before but it was quite some time ago. They do have an interesting selection of items on their menu but we went for fairly simple fare. This... More

first, if you're coming from out of town be prepared to pay for parking at meter - thankfully the meters take credit cards or change, making easy to park. second, at lunch there is no table service, order at counter and they bring to table. everyone at Magpie's was very friendly and helpfully answered my many questions about menu items.... Just got introduced to Magpie Cafe today for lunch, and it was a great experience! The sandwiches were just yummy! There were four of us and we each ordered a different sandwich: Turkey Bacon Panini, BLT, Pulled Pork and Trout sandwich. Each one used different breads and each was garnished differently. All were delicious! The restaurant clearly uses fresh ingredients... More

Walked over here for a light dinner. Everything fresh but did not blow us away. Soup of the day was a roasted vegetable and Puntsrella salad (w/white anchovies) def filled the light bill. Hubs ordered a bottle of De Ranke beer. No idea the beer would be $16! Wallet also lighter for having 2 soups, 1 salad and a beer... More

Visited Magpie for weekday lunch. Had heard rave reviews. The place was mobbed, but we were lucky to snag the last table. While waiting in line, someone took our order. I am not sure why, since we still had to wait in line to pay. Delivery was pretty quick. The portions were on the small side, prices ran a little... More

Great Diner setting (casual dress perfect) with DELICIOUS food! The Greeter is a fun, engaging guy who sets the tone (especially great when you'll probably have a bit of a wait, as popular as this place is)! Recommend ALL of the entree' options (we had 9)!!

I have at times wondered what was so great about the sandwich. That was until I sat and devoured a magpie invention. We were on our way to a meditative retreat in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and wanted our last indulgence to be memorable. This simple friendly neighbourhood boutique restaurant fully sated our needs. Let the staff recommend the house... More

The Magpie Cafe prides itself on serving seasonal farm-fresh food. My wife and I came at 11 a.m. on a Saturday morning. Although there was a waiting list for tables, there were two chairs available for us at the bar. (The normal outdoor seating was not available due to rain.) My wife ordered the Magpie Breakfast Special, which included two... More

We were invited to join some family and friends at Magpie's restaurant in mid-town Sacramento. It's a trendy but boutique restaurant situated on a corner in an old neighborhood full of character. The cool bike rack and railed in outdoor seating made a positive first impression. We approached the evening as a tasting meal sharing our gourmet seasonal specialties with... More
