I keep coming back to this place!

Magpie is an excellent restaurant. If you're looking for a snobby fine dining experience complete with chilled salad forks and $100 wine, you won't find it here. What you will find is friendly and professional staff. The place has just enough class to make it a nice but not intimidating place to... read more

We had a decent brunch here but the food while fresh was nothing to write home about. About half of the folks we were with enjoyed their meal the other half didn't appreciate some of the more unique flavor combinations, so to each their own. The big thing about this place that gave us a negative experience were the other... More

There is always something new, seasonal and fresh at Magpie. The winter BLT is very good as well the pulled pork Sammie. Haven't had it but the Banh Mi seems to be popular. Oh, and the smoked trout with Meyer lemon is yummy. Can be very crowded but worth the wait.

I've eaten lunch at Magpie several times and consider it to be one of the highest quality and most innovative places in Sacramento. It is often quite crowded and there is a bit of uncertainty about getting a table. If the weather is nice, it is lovely to sit outside. I agree with a few others that it is a... More

Magpie is one of my favorite restaurants. I have always enjoyed every selection knowing it is fresh and healthy and delicious. I am a huge fan of their avocado mousse and highly recommend it to anyone who loves chocolate. I love the ambience, menu items that vary with the season and the chance to try eating things I wouldn't try... More

This restaurant is in a revived area of Sacramento at 14th Street and R Street. It is a small café with a great crew. Servers were attentive and helpful. The food choices were uniquely prepared and absolutely delicious. I had the pan seared Kingbird Grits as an appetizer. It was the best serving of grits I have ever had in... More

We had lunch at the Magpie and it was pretty good. The place is very appealing visually, and has an interesting character but overall, our experience was just average. We had been there before but it was quite some time ago. They do have an interesting selection of items on their menu but we went for fairly simple fare. This... More

first, if you're coming from out of town be prepared to pay for parking at meter - thankfully the meters take credit cards or change, making easy to park. second, at lunch there is no table service, order at counter and they bring to table. everyone at Magpie's was very friendly and helpfully answered my many questions about menu items.... Just got introduced to Magpie Cafe today for lunch, and it was a great experience! The sandwiches were just yummy! There were four of us and we each ordered a different sandwich: Turkey Bacon Panini, BLT, Pulled Pork and Trout sandwich. Each one used different breads and each was garnished differently. All were delicious! The restaurant clearly uses fresh ingredients... More

Walked over here for a light dinner. Everything fresh but did not blow us away. Soup of the day was a roasted vegetable and Puntsrella salad (w/white anchovies) def filled the light bill. Hubs ordered a bottle of De Ranke beer. No idea the beer would be $16! Wallet also lighter for having 2 soups, 1 salad and a beer... More
