OK...the "meh" doesn't mean the place was horrible. It had its moments, and served the purpose we had in mind when we came here (we were both craving fresh veggies after a weekend of over-indulgence). It was also convenient, being just across the street from our hotel (the Marriott Residence Inn) and from Capitol Park, and just around the corner... More

Passing through Sacramento, stayed downtown for the night, Ma's was in (safe) walking distance, open till 230 am on Friday & Saturday. Huge, delicious portions at an affordable price. Loved the Green Beans and the Spicy Shanghai noodles and Lemon Peel Chicken.

I ate Garlic Green Beans at about 3 different places in one week and Ma Jong's was definitely the best! We ate late, having arrived in Sacto late. Ma Jong's is NOT where Google says it is. But we found it. We ordered at the counter and sat at long tables that were mostly empty. The food came out in... More

You place your order at the counter and then you are treated to a huge portion of great food. Big enough to share, reasonable prices. Nice tables for larger parties or for just one. All 8 people in our party were happy and impressed.

Counter style ordering with well made food pairs nicely with access to the shared seating space with a couple other restaurants for enclosed al fresco dining. We picked a booth with curtains, food was delivered in good time, and we enjoyed it all.

The place is located one block from the convention center, and so can be very crowded at lunch time, when the convention attendees are let out. Ma Jong's has a counter, where people check out the menu, and place their orders. I always order the $10 Shanghai spicy noodles with chicken, beef and shrimp. I've eaten here five times, and... Each and every time I go to Ma Jong's the food is terrific and the service is fast. I almost always get the General Chicken and have never been disappointed. Friends get a combination of other things and every plate gets emptied. If I had to say one bad thing, it would be that there are time it's difficult to... More

In a five day stay, I ate at Ma Jong's three times, and enjoyed it thoroughly every time. The relaxed atmosphere is welcoming for a group as well as alone. I waited to order anywhere from five minutes to 20 minutes but the food was well worth the wait. After ordering, the food was out within ten minutes and was... More

I have been to Ma Jong's no fewer than seven times. It is, by far, my favorite place for Pad Thai. With its casual atmosphere, it makes for a nice place to meet friends or go alone. The enclosed patio seating is also a nice feature, although it is shared with an adjoining restaurant, which sometimes uses the patio for... More

I have lunch here on a recent trip and thought the food was really good. The atmosphere was serene and I chose to eat on their patio. The menu had a wide range of choices from different Asian cuisines. And I would agree the staff was super friendly. Not a fancy place, you order up front at the counter. Food... More
