I happened to pass by Back to the Grind in the evening and made the wise decision of popping in. The food wasn't fancy but it was good, there was a nice variety and reasonably priced. At some point a group of seven young musicians launched into a vibrant and delightful jazz jam session which proved to be the highlight... More

Messy coffee hangout for the drifting young set or pseudo intellectuals. How do they pass the rating system? Hope there isn't a fire in the downstairs basement room used for aspiring musicians to show their talent.

This place is great for social meetings, group get togethers, study space and sometimes open mic events to listen to. Free Wi-Fi like Starbucks but with a very different atmosphere. In a good way though, you'll see what I mean when you get there =) Their Chai Tea Latte is amazing!

I simply cannot say enough good things about Back to the Grind. It's Riverside's "Cheers" where "everyone knows your name". It's comfy, the coffee is goooood. Free WiFi makes it a great place to clear out the e-mails without distraction. In fact, I wrote about 1/3 of my first book there. If you want distractions, the staff: Darren ( the... More

Who would have thought that a back east style coffee shop could exist in the a megatropolis, known for cooperate everything, but here it is; the last bastion of non-corporate coffee culture. It is perfect for hanging out, studying, and yes even reading. Go to here, ASAP!

Back to the grind is the kinda place that made me like Riverside. In downtown Rside, quite an amazing place, both architecturally and socially speaking. People are all unique and queer in their own way - by this I mean that every one is welcomed, unique and non judgmental whatever they are. People are in general really friendly and it's... More

The owner manager is an awesome guy. This place has great local atmosphere, and is a comfortable place to have a conversation and take a break in the middle of the day. The architecture is interesting, much more San Francsico than Riverside, and the artwork is always changing. There is even a basement gallery, Ms. Pacman machine, and patios in... More

There is still at least one place in the world that is a true gathering place for the Bohemian as well as the office-professional-by-day types! If you like locals, local artists, kitsch, and coffee-lounges this is your stop! Always an interesting, fun crowd of individuals who are not so stuffy they cannot give a smile or strike up a conversation.... More
