Beyond Words!

This place is the best and most comprehensive private collection of animal trophies I know of. I believe the tusks are the largest privately held and the giraffe is the only privately held in North America. There are even pictures of people like Hemingway and Teddy Roosevelt on the walls. Did not eat here, only had a beer. But, the place is worth a visit just to see the walls covered with rare and some extinct special of animals shot and mounted by a previous owner in the 50's & 60's when many of these creatures stilled roamed the earth. We are talking elephants, Rhino, Giraffe, etc. Unbelievable!

Walking into the bar is like walking back in time with all the animal heads on the wall. But, as long as it doesn't bother you it can be charming. The lunch was nice bar food. The sandwiches were good but I would not have the Thai salad again since it tasted and looked like the dressing came out of... More

I would recommend this place for cocktails and atmosphere only. There are hundreds of mounted animals which is fascinating. For food, we ordered a T-bone and the prime rib special. The T-bone was about 3/8" thick, about the thinnest I have ever seen and definitely not cooked to my order. The prime rib didn't have much flavor and was tough.... More

This has a nice bar, and lots of heads on the wall to discuss. But the Chimp head is more than sad and alarming. Big game hunter in the 30's brought his heads home with him. The bar has a nice vibe, friendly and casual. Bar itself is nice mahogany I think and comfortable to sit at for drinks or... More

This place is more for the ambience than the food. It is a novel place to take others and have a beer or appetizer and view the photos and animals. They serve basic food and a moderate price. Nothing fancy about it. But if you haven't been, you must go at least for a drink. Casual place.

The most Safari Trophy's you may ever see. Oyster shooters are the biggy's and best you have had. Fun day trip for lunch and a beer. This is a great Motorcycle ride along the many levee roads.

This place puts Rio Vista on the map. It is the only place to take visitors that is unique and everyone has a strong opinion about the décor! We have sat at the table under the elephant tusks on many an occasion. The animal heads are so old, they don't exactly look real. The food is secondary, average but okay.... More

This bar / restaurant has been in Rio Vista,California, for many years. Unimpressive from the outside, once you enter the bar is dominated by over one hundred stuffed animal heads that the original hunter collected in safaris in Africa, Asia, Canada and elsewhere. The restaurant is located in the back, and provides reasonably priced food and drink. Not exactly a... More
