My wife and I wandered in about 3:30 PM, immediately greeting and shown to a table. It has been a few years since I have been to a Max's so it took some time to read the menu and our waitress was very professional offering to help us with the menu. I ordered a patty melt. One of the best... More

Terrific salads - the best! Steaks are really good. Servers are great. Sandwiches are huge! Desserts are beyond delicious and rich.

I have wondered why the ratings of this restaurant is quite low because I had had quite good experience going to other branches as early as 14 years ago. Today I had a very horrible experience dealing with a waiter and a host from the Redwood City branch. There is a very large prominent banner on the El Camino Real... More

I returned to Max's at the suggestion of a friend who wanted to get together for dinner because the location was convenient. Previously, I had stayed away for five years after receiving such abominable service that my kids were in tears and we told them we wouldn't pay for the meal. Five years later, the service is still just as... More

Max's has been a favorite for years, but the menu (particularly the appetizer section) has been getting smaller, even with their occasional fresh food specials. My spouse likes their salads and I like their pastrami sandwiches, but I miss some of the appetizers. Unlike the Max's in Palo Alto and in Burlingame, which occasionally have the wait staff providing vocal... More

Had one of their special Reubens. It was loaded but a good recommendation from the waiter. Loved Max's Rules. Good location and convenient to hotels and work site. Couldn't eat there every day but it was worth going to a local phenomenon.

Even through the business on Friday's can be memorable at max's I was very surprised that the host and staff were organized. From the very beginning that I was embraced by the warmth of the place, and it's lights I then knew I was in for a treat. further in my exploration, I was greeted like family by the host.... More

We have been going to Max's for the last several years, and this one in Redwood City for the last couple of years. The food is good, but it has slipped a bit and the menu has been shortened, and now no longer contains some of our favorite appetizers. Unlike some of the Max's, we have never encountered any of... I met some friends for dinner last Friday. I ordered a glass of chardonney and when I asked the server what the difference was between the 3oz pour and the 6oz pour he gave me a blank look. He could have shown me the difference using his fingers as a measuring tool or put 3oz water in a wine glass... More
