Set in the heart of downtown Redwood City, Donato Enoteca offers true and honest contemporary Italian cuisine from Executive Chef Donato Scotti that changes weekly determined by the freshest available seasonal produce. Consistently Great

One of our favorite local places. We very much like to sit at the bar overlooking the kitchen, and watch the magic happen. Outstanding wine list. Love this place

Love this place..especially the nice patio outside with tables and a few couches for Happy Hour or anytime. Happy Hour is 3pm-6pm daily half off appetizers and beer/wine/cocktail special prices. Love this place anytime for dinner romantic or just a night out.

Just came back from Donato Enoteca. We have eaten there many times over the years, and so dropped in without a reservation. We secured seating at the counter looking into the kitchen. They were busy. The waiter came by, was friendly, we ordered mineral water, wine - Michel Eppan Pinot Blanco $12 - good value and a Nebbiolo $15 on... More

Lunch on a rainy Saturday in the cozy Donato was such a treat! We chose it from the list we got online….had never heard of it before. Late lunch, around 2 o'clock. Lovely Italian wine selection, I got one from the Alto Adige region--went well with my mussels and the beet salad. Service was very good. But the star was... More

I'm an intermittent Donato visitor over the years. Eaten here 2x in the past month hoping they just had an off night on the first go. Totally unimpressive and tasteless pasta and main courses. The pasta was not even warm. Service was decent at the table and subpar at the bar. It used to be good - what happened? I... More

Stopped here after a quick visit to Alcatraz. This is a Michelin rated bib gourmand so I decided to give a try-glad I did. A delicious and authentic squid ink pasta with assorted seafood and a side of local asparagus with Grana cheese was perfect. Many drink choices add to the experience.

Obviously other reviews say otherwise, but my experience was so-so. It wasn't bad, but it was nothing special. I had some sort of ribs with polenta, and chard. The meat was extremely tender but completely lacking in flavor, polenta was cooked perfectly but once again lacking in any flavor, completely bland. The greens were very nicely cooked. The server was... More

I have eaten at Donato many times. Most recently we held our company holiday party there for twelve people. The food is authentic Italian-not "Americanized". Some of the best dishes are the grilled calamari, pasta with oxtail sauce, pizza and branzino. Also, the wine list is exceptional, especially the Italian wines. I would have rated this establishment five stars, but... More

We have been here several times and always had a lovely meal. Wine selections and cocktails are also excellent. Service is 'old world' which to me means knowledgeable, quiet and efficient. Their sides and salads are excellent.

I took a work colleague from Italy here and he RAVED about the authenticity of the dishes, the flavors, and the superior wine list. He still mentions it several years on.
