This is a review of the fish market only. I haven't eaten in the restaurant yet. We pick up fresh fish regularly at Captain Kidds. The staff is always knowledgeable with what is the freshest and best option for the meal we have planned. Although we haven't tried this option you can select your fish and have them prepare it... You order and then wait to be called. There was a huge line but it went fast. We had both grilled and fried seafood as well as clam chowder. It was average. I think the fish market near the arcade is better, but the line was long and my mom was too tired to walk any further. The kids thought... More

Captain Kidds is definitely a come as you are place to eat. Lots of raw fish, crab, shrimp, etc to choose from to take home to prepare or let them prepare it for you to eat there (outside) or take out. Generally, we take home to be prepared, but the cooked crab and shrimp are excellent for salads or appetizers.... More

Amazing crab claws, coleslaw, calamari. Chose from the fish market and they will prepare it for you. Reasonable pricing and VERY nice staff, worth the detour!!

I read the reviews and thought it was going to be outstanding! I was Disappointed with the seafood. Very little seafood is caught locally. Visiting from NY and was anticipating fresh seafood in California. I can get much better seafood in NY. All the hype of fresh seafood.. Don't see any fishing boats bringing in fresh seafood. I don't think... More

We loved this place. My husband got the lunch special of a shark sandwich and a soda for like $6.50. I got steamed clams ( although I ordered the mussels) which were good too! I loved that if we wanted to we could've picked our own seafood and they would cook it for us. Great service and the staff members... More

Im in LA on business and since I eat a pretty strict diet my boss' wife took me here one night while he was busy doing other things. I typically do eat fish by decided I wanted to be a bit more decadent and ordered the lobster bisque. It was FANTASTIC! The only thing I would suggest is adding a... More

We almost didn't go in thinking it was fast-food, but oh were we glad we did! Amazing prices on fresh seafood and fish dinners. We had 6 huge fresh oysters on the half shell, fish tacos and a mixed kabob. My boyfriend raved about the clam chowder. Oysters were out of this world as were the hush-puppies and fish tacos.... This is a classic fish market/restaurant combo. It is rustic, very informal and friendly. I purchased their lunch special, a rather large snapper sandwich which came with a soft drink ($6.95). Outstanding would be an understatement.

I been coming here with my family since I was around 11-12 yrs of age, and I'm 32 now. The service is still great or even better. You can pretty much order whatever, and have them cook it however!!! It may not be on the menu, but you can ask em to hook it up. I love having Chilean Seabass... More
