I spent the day at a conference at the Portofino Hotel and we were treated to a lunch buffet at the Baleen Kitchen. What a great little restaurant and the views are just spectacular! The staff seemed very attentive to the buffet line that was set up. The food was fine, though nothing over the moon but the flan dessert... More

The pork chop was very dry and the chicken was too. The manager responded beautifully and had them redone. The location overlooking the marina is spectacular as is the decor. They had live music which was also excellent. One other negative is that the air conditioning made the restaurant bone-chillingly cold. Luckily we were staying next door at the Portofino... More

Was just here for my bday & strongly advise not having large parties there. They have you sign a contract telling you it's to hold the table but then it's really so they can charge you $20 for every person that does not show. Also they over charge for each person & then give some bogus minimum you have to... More

I have had the opportunity to dine at Baleens since March 2013 when I have stayed at the Portofino property and attend USC Center for Effective Organization workshops at the onsite conference center. I have had breakfast, lunch and dinner there. Most recently I had dinner there in June of 2014. Service has been mixed. My first couple of visits... More

Excellent steak dishes, can recommend the filet steak with asparagus and Berlinger Merlot. Attentive service, beautiful ocean views. Quite pricey, but good value for steak choices.

While staying at the portofino, an easy walk to this harbor front restaurant. Nice apps. Sliders, calamari, and yes, as other reviewers have said, very, very good burgers! Nice wine list as well.

Trust me, it's worth the clogged artery. Just work out pre burger. The rest of the menu/food was above average. Nothing fancy, simple, good.

This is a beautiful spot for brunch, especially for a special occasion. The restaurant is really pretty and has a great view overlooking the Redondo marina. The food was good, but I was surprised that their brunch menu was so small. But, they do have bottomless mimosas and a bloody mary bar.

We had a very enjoyable dinner with another couple at Baleen. Food was flavorful, well presented and almost great. If anything, I hold South Bay food to a higher standard since we tend to get crappier service down here. Such was not the case at Baleen. Pleased all around.
