Good food; funky nightlife

Had the short ribs for dinner; it was delicious. After dinner, went into the bar to listen to the band. The crowd as a little funky; some tourists and some drunk locals. I would go back for the food but probably skip the bar next time.

Breakfast option of buffet or a la card order. Also lunch was great. Plates are rather large and plenty. I noticed that on the weekend alot of local people had breakfast/brunch at the Balleen, so I take this as a very good sign. Staff is friendly and try to solve all requests.

Too pricey to actually eat there but their bar area has specials during the week which are quite nice. The best is tacos on Tuesday for $2 and $5 Margaritas on the rocks with some optional poo poos which are very good.

This restaurant is nicely appointed. The serving staff were great . but really let down by the kitchen and were constantly apologising to diners. Didn't matter to us as there for the night. We had the chowder and it was one of the better chowders I have tasted over many years of travelling in Canada and the US. The steak... More

Great lunch spot, didn't try dinner. Water views and lots of light. Upstairs/downstairs options so you can be wharfside.

We went to the Baleen for drinks on a Saturday evening. Drinks were delicious, atmosphere was lovely and relaxing and the live music was enternaining. We didn't have anything to eat but I've heard the food is great and the Sunday brunch is a must. The atmosphere is cozy and considering we were there in December, the fireplace was a... More

Happened to dine here on Monday, which is the day they offer the Chef's Prefix menu. Three courses, each with three options, for $35. Another $12 for three wine pairings to match. The clam chowder was excellent and the pairing was a perfect match. The steak and the salmon were also excellent, perfectly done and accompanied. The wine pairing with... More
