Breakfast is their best offering of food in my opinion. I've always please with my meal. Lunch and dinner, food quality is average. The staff is very friendly and you get excellent service. A great place to just relax and have a bite to eat. The Redding and Mt. Shasta Black Bear is my favorite locations. Love the commercials.

We had breakfast and lunch here this weekend! Portions were gigantic, and nothing like sweet cream pancakes! Absolutely to die for. Staff was so pleasant and attentive!

after an over night stay in Redding we went to Black Bear diner to grab breakfast before we got back on the road. For this I am grateful!!! I have THEE BEST corned beef hash I have ever had. Chucks of corned beef, mild on the potatoes. Absolutely amazing!!!

When traveling the 5 on our way to Oregon we found this place. The first time we went the kids were younger and the six of us were a little road weary and wrapped around a booth. The whole place is just what you'd expect when you hear the word 'Diner' and the "Black Bear" theme carries through the whole... More

Stopped at the Black Bear in Redding while passing through on our way to Portland. This was our first experience with the chain and we were very pleased. Service was friendly and efficient (many of the servers had been there for 10 years or more which says something about it as a place to work - or the lack of... More

Good comfort food. Friendly hometown service feel. Always busy, so arrive early. You can park next door when the parking lot is full. We took home souvenirs of Papa Bear, Mama Bear & Baby Bear Hot sauces. Tasty and a novelty.

The road on Highway 5 from the bay area to Oregon is a long one and Redding is a good spot to stop for food. We had heard that Redding was the home of the original Black Bear Diner so we headed there.. The parking lot was full as a testament to its attraction. Its housed in what looks to... More

and I do, you'll like this place. The portions are large and the prices very reasonable. Our dinner came quickly and the servers were friendly and attentive.

This is a great breakfast, lunch or dinner place. Very casual. Food is served in very large portions so you may want to opt for one of the smaller portion meals they offer if you are not a big eater. Can be crowded, especially on Sundays.
