This was the third time we have driven north just over an hour to eat at Jack's Grill. The place is small and dark which makes it very unique. The restaurant has been busy each time we have been there. We got there early to get a table and sat at the bar until it was time to be seated.... More

The other recent reviews are accurate. The restaurant is a dark and very noisy bar, lots of 2-3 person tables, all full when we arrived at around 5:30. We had NY steaks which come with a family style bowl of salad, choice of fries or baked potato, and some toasted french bread. The bleu cheese dressing was unremarkable--seemed to be... More

We enjoyed a family dinner recently and it was fun and delicious, but it was not conducive to conversation. The restaurant is one big crowded room with most people congregated around the bar waiting for a table. The salad is served family style and nothing to write home about. The potatoes are huge; one is enough to feed a village!... More

I've learned when you're from out of town and want a good meal, the best question to ask is "where do you go when you dine out?". While staying in Redding visiting a friend, I asked this to the woman at the front desk at my hotel. She told me about Jack's and warned me it's not the type of... More

This is an old place in Redding with a past reputation of no frills and a steak and salad. A place for the bar crowd. No reservations and just wait your turn. If you want to experience a good steak and share a bowl of salad try it. Everybody talks about Jacks...but for me it's history. I remember when!

Had an early dinner at Jack's before a concert at the Cascade Theater which is around the corner. They don't take reservations so we sat at the bar and had a couple of Margaritas which I would rate as average…not great but not bad. We got seated and our server offered suggestions about their steaks. We decided to share a... More

Going to Jacks is like stepping back in time to a speakeasy. It's a must do if you're passing through!

Great food. Great service! A landmark for sure. The food is a little pricey but the salad is my favorite. The wait is always long but the drinks are stron:)

If you want a perfect steak, go to Jack's. They have the best steaks you can imagine and the bartenders are the drink mixing masters. The service is second to none!

Having been at this location for many decades this is the best steak in town. They are only open for dinner and do not take reservations. Put your name on the list, grab a drink form Mike the bartender and wait your turn. It's a great time to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a great meal, as well as... More
