While the sushi is fresh, the cooks try to impart flavor with a lot of sauces that seem to overwhelm the underlying Sushi. Mikuni up Hazel Ave is much better

We met our friends here at Samurai Sushi for dinner based on their insistence this is the place to go for creative take on sushi. We were not disappointed! The fusion of creative ingenuity and Japanese cuisine hit the right balance here! I like a twist on original dishes...after all, everyone should know by now that Nigiri Sushi was originally... More

Arrived during happy hour on weekday, Sushi special was more than enough at an excellent price. I could not eat everything; Soup, Salad, 4 pieces of sushi, two California rolls, and draft beer for under $20. Service was prompt, food was fresh, and atmosphere was open and clean. Enjoy going to Sushi bars and not being overwhelmed with cheesy decorations.... More

We recently returned to Samurai - thought we'd try again. II will be the last time. The service was inconsistent - our wait-person apologized twice and told us two people didn't come in. Miso soup was average, edamame was very good - tender, warm, not too much salt. When the best thing about the meal is the edamame, you know... More

Reliable service, always fresh fish, variety of traditional Japanese dishes besides sushi and rolls Across the freeway from the Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Sushi at Winding Way and Hazel. This sushi bar is great for any occasion.... The atmosphere is great and the service is very good too. I come here a lot with family, friends or even by myself for lunch! If you have a bigger group you can order your sushi rolls in the boat! Wow! Plum wine is my choice for a drink there but they... More

This is one of the families favorite restaurants in the Sacramento metro area. Fresh Sushi with many many choices, along with other great Japanese foods such as Teriyaki, Tempura, and Udon dishes. There are 2 large menu's, one of them is a Sushi menu; the other covers the cooked foods. I almost always get the Sushi Special, which is different... More

Twelve of us went in to this restaurant, all had different items. Not one of us had a bad meal. One said the rolls were excellent, our combination plates were very good. Food was really good, service was really good, wait staff attentive without being intrusive. Had a $40 groupon - well worth the price! We will be back.
